Can you guys read? It says 'Thomas WOULD HAVE GONE FOR IT HAD the Lakers added Bynum'. Why are people saying "this is good news" and "get it done"? The Lakers actually hired Kareem for the specific purpose of working with Bynum. They're not trading him for one. Two, who cares?

yeah I misread that. maybe the Lakers think Frye will help them sooner than Bynum will and they unload Odom. long shot I know

Lakers arent stupid and the Knicks dont want Bynum. I believe that the Lakers want frye to put NEXT to bynum for the fUTURe---they have Kobe and a healthy kobe is one of only three players who can play with 4 elves and still be .500. they can rebuild while calming the water with Kobe. In fact any team that gets the lakers in the playoffs will be shtting their pants because kobe can ramp it up and no one can do anything about it.

you are right about that Briggs...

so now Isiah is tring to deal for Bynum when we could've just drafted him as the center of the future and not made the Curry trade

it just keeps getting better.

Get it done.

yeah, only difference is there's a guy named Odom who's also involved in that deal.

Odom. ha!

so that was his plan all along

Marbury Crawford and Odom...nuk nuk

and I like Odom but those 3 together

Exactly. I wouldn't draft Bynum over Frye knowing what we know now or what we knew on draft night, but I would take Bynum over Frye if Lamar Odom came along in the deal.

Why is it OK for the Lakers to want to gain cap room, but not the Knicks?

We need to stop. I realize the Knicks are in the middle of a ten game losing streak and they have won one game in the last 16, but, this doesn't mean we give up on everybody and continue to worsen our salary cap position. You cannot turn the Knicks around with one trade that gives up our best draft class in 10 years for a mediocre patch. That is what the Knicks have been doing for the past 6 or 7 years now. My advice would be to do nothing. Marbury is still injured and we play like garbage without him. He will be back. We have excellent young talent that needs to learn Larry Brown's system. The truth is that takes several years. Like Brown said at the beginning of the season, he thought he was going to be working with Kurt Thomas and Allan Houston, not Eddy Curry and Quentin Richardson. Matt Barnes started for the Knicks for crying out loud. The Knicks have to stick it out, let Penny Hardaway's contract expire to start this thing in the right direction. Yes, they need a backup point gaurd and maybe an enforcer at power forward. (The Knicks had that, remember Antonio Davis and his expiring contract) But, this should not come at the price of the Knicks youth. Go to 82games.com and Knickerblogger, as I'm sure people on this forum are familiar with, and check Channing Frye's net and David Lee's rebound rate. The Knicks will never get back to Finals with our current player management strategy. Fire Isiah and let's start the healing.

Kobe forced them to make a choice, and they opted for the younger, healthier player. That's business. I wish the Knicks' decision making was as bad.

What did they end up getting out of trading the most dominant player in NBA history? Odom and Kwame?

If we give up Penny/Ariza or Craword for Odom... we better be getting picks back. A first this year at least.

They kept Kobe, who was a FA and could have signed with the Clippers.

You can resign your own guy for more money.

That's not the point. The point is that Kobe gave the Lakers an ulitmatum, and he had the leverage of leaving as a FA to make his point: him or Shaq.

^And you think they made the right decision? They ended up hiring the old coach back and the team still sucks--now try finding a free agent who wants to play with Kobe...good luck.

You think Kobe wants to wait three or four years to win a championship?

Dunno if anyone said this but if the Lakers do this "rumored" deal I think it would clearly be part of a play for one of the BIG free agents after next summer.

Bosh, Lebron, Wade, Anthony.

Brian Grant comes off the books next year and if they got Frye they could develop him this year and next with Kobe and then have Kobe, Frye and likely one of the players I listed because YOU KNOW LAKERS ARE A DESIRABLE TEAM TO PLAY FOR.

We'd basically be giving the Lakers a VERY GOOD shot at getting another superstar to go with Kobe after next season.

Not all rookies develop that slowly and they have guys like Cook and Smush who are starting to come into their own.
