OK, lets put it this way, our record with marbury on the floor the last two years sans the games he missed is
47-76 ok? get the picture?

I like Marbury, but hes not an elite nBA player that materially changes W-ls

His career W-l record is very very bad. and let me follow, the way to win games is via a team. A good team can sustain play even when a star goes down.

do you honestly think Brown has done the best he could with this group and that's it's just not a good group?

I think there's talent here, but it's young and we're going to have serious bumps and Marbury impact is magnified with this young group and Brown is a horrible fit.

So is Elton Brand's, Tracy McGrady's, Paul Pierce's, Allen Iverson's (I think), Steve Francis's. You don't judge players by W-L records without looking at who their teammates were (and at what stage of those players' careers).

T-Mac Iverson and Pierce teams .500 or better. Francis is close to .500 as well.

Marbury's teams are probably around .350 - .380

I'm curious how you arrived at those #s but you missed the point if you're concerned about whether 2 or 3 of the ones listed are close to .500.

I'm guessing based on Pierce AI and T-Mac's teams making te play-offs for the majority of their careers. And Houston played .500 or beter ball during Francis stay.

Marbury however has been on 3 50 loss teams and another 49 loss team.

thats 4 out of 5 at or over .500, not 2 or 3. Marbury is in his own league found further south.

counting this season:
Pierce 283W - 313L made playoffs 4 times

Francis 250W - 290L made playoffs 1 time

Iverson 377W - 379L made playoffs 6 times

Marbury 333W - 422L made playoffs 4 times

Thanks; you beat me to it. I had a feeling he was just guessing like he admitted and I thought every one of those players had sub .500 career records.
Those W-L records are NOT IMO evidence against the quality of those players. They're all great players. It's evidence against the idea of evaluating a player by blindly looking at his career W-L records.

I agree. I think it's stupid to look at the record and decide someone is a loser. There are always weird situations, injuries and other things. The Knicks have had all sorts of bad luck with injuries the last two years. Marbury's first season here he dragged us to the playoffs despite Houston going down and KVH being traded for an inferior player. I don't blame Marbury for this mess, the last 13 games have shown that the rest of his teammates don't know how to win a basketball game.

Getting back to the point of this thread, Francis tonight in Boston, midway through the 3rd quarter:

0-5 0pts, 3ast, 2TO, 1 reb

He definitely wants to be traded now. He's averaging like 4ppg since the rumors have leaked.

in other Knicks trade target news: Theo has 8pts, 5reb, 5blk. And Portland is down by 30 to the Raptors. Yeah, Larry, Theo's interior D sounds great.

crzymdups with the smack down of the year. Wow, that was nice. Beautiful. Not to mention he's been carrying the whole forum on his shoulders lately... downright Ewing-esque.

Of course, you know that crzy is just looking at charts and graphs and shouldn't be trusted... mck1 knows the score just by using his own two eyes.

lol, thanks for the kind words, but I haven't been carrying anything. I do think Marbury is unfairly branded a loser, though. Part of that is his own fault for demanding a trade out of Minnie, but since then he's been dealt a lot of injuries to his big men or other good players (Kmart, Kittles, Amare, Curry, Houston) and never really been in a stable situation.

wow this thread did get off track

but the bottom line is this is a very bad basketball team--and Ill throw up the numbers that count 14-35

marbury is a piece of this team we were bad with him we were bad without him. this team lacks tremendous amounts of intangibles required to win. We do have a HUGE ENORMOUS advantage to just go out and spend, yet i still dont see where its going--is jalen rose--now at 33 an integral knick?

its just a mess from head to toe this is the worst team the franchise has had in 40+ years maybe all time???? and we lead the league in payroll by a WIDE margin. its nuts. there really is no excuse or comeback for this sentiment because we are what we are. every team has to cope with injured players from time to time yet some knick fans feel we are in an exclusive club--we want to be an excuse team a crybabyteam--but the team--the guys who are running it, need to look into the mirror

You have impressive modesty but I have to agree with Tom on this point!

the stat geek returns with tattered cape and all. now like I said it was a guess. those guys teams overall records are much closer to .500 then Marbury and their teams have been in the play-offs more often than not unlike Marbury.

um, only Iverson's and McGrady's teams have made the playoffs more than Marburys teams. I understand it's frustrating right now, but this team was turning it around when Marbury went down. It stinks, and it was a FRAGILE balance granted, but that's the truth.
