All that true point guard stuff is hype....If you don't have the players around you, it won't matter. Was Nash a true point guard in Dallas? So 1.5 years removed, now he is the prototype..

Players do what they need to do to get victories...Players fit in systems...The Nets worked out for Kidd...Phoenix worked out for Nash...
If Kidd isn't pushing the ball or if he doesn't have wing players who can run and finish, he's average...Thats why he doesn't do well in the playoffs because it's a slow down possession game...

Nash should be averaging 11 assist per game because the first guy he passes to always shooting the ball...Thats the game plan...Under Larry system who wants 4 to 5 touches per possession, those assist numbers would come down....Show me the the guy who can play in any situation and I'll say he is the best...That guy for me is AI......

totally agree w/u there... AI's the most talented by far of any of those guys... if he wanted to, he could easily average double figures in assists, and play great defense while doing so.

Okay, so where does Marbury rank among the list of guards (true point or not) in terms of a player you'd want to have on your team?

Talent doesnt mean ****. Talent doesnt win games. Defense, rebounding, and smart offense wins games.

Best PG's in the league?

Marbury isn't even top 5.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

All which, ironically enough, take talent to be able to do consistantly and effectively.

Okay, so where does Marbury rank among the list of guards (true point or not) in terms of a player you'd want to have on your team?

my list would probably go like this:

Jason Kidd (i've always loved his all around game, toughness & leadership ability)
Allen Iverson (can't ignore how good this guy really is)
Steve Nash (a bit overrated in my book, but still a great guy to run a team)
Chris Paul (up & comer... this kid rebounds better than some PF's)
Chauncey Billups (great clutch shot maker & underrated defender)
Tony Parker (most will think i'm rating him way too high, but i've always loved how he plays the game)
Gilbert Arenas (the second best pure scorer on this list)
Mike Bibby (great big game player)
Stephon Marbury (lots of talent, but no leadership ability)
Steve Francis (love his athleticism, but he's not a guy i'd want running my team)
Baron Davis (last because of his history of injuries & tendency for chucking bad shots)

My problem with Kidd is tha he has to play on a running team....He is a great passer on a running team, but he doesnt play in the half court very well...

Its not about the stats(Although Ill take 14/7/8 from my PG any day of the week). Its about leadership, toughness and his will to win.

they sucked w/him & they suck w/o him... what's the difference? leaders inspire their teammates to play better, even when they're not on the floor... Marbury has never done that... he's not the leader type... it's just how it is.

Yeah?, is that right...well How is Craw playing without him, How is Frye playing without the pick and roll,How is Curry playing when people can't get the ball to he where he likes it, How is Lee playing without anyone driving through the lane and dishing it to him...How is Woods playing now he is not getting wide open 3's after the defense collapses on Marbs from driving the lane...You're right, this guys makes no one better and he can't run this team....Bro if you have been really watching these games, you would see the difference when Marbs is there and when he is not

We were real bad with Marbury and we are pathetic without him. Happy now?
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

We're actually not that much worse without Steph, the problem is that the dropoff between Steph and our second string point guard is immense--because we don't have a backup point guard!

If we had a capable backup point guard we wouldn't be much worse. But we don't, so we are.

So you are saying Marbs means nothing to this team? Is that what you are really saying? And the bad play of late is what, lack of a point guard...So stick Carlos Aroyo in there and we would be fine? Is that what you are saying?
