Isles, cheer up, Denver is only down 14 going into the 4th. They might come back.

Yeah, maybe we can draft another role player or suit model. How exciting.

Josh Boone would look like nice in a suit. Or Brandon Rush.

Rebounds per game is a terrible stat for comparing players' rebounding abilities.

Rebounds per 48 is better, but still flawed. It controls for minutes, but doesn't control for team pace or total # of available rebounds. Teams that play at faster paces, and those that play better defense and/or worse offense, will have an artificially inflated amount of rebound opportunities per game.

Rebound rate is the best measure I've seen for comparing player rebounding effectiveness. It takes the total number of boards a player gets and divides that by an estimate for the total number of missed shots that were made while that player was on the floor. So a rebound rate of 20 would mean that you grab 20% of all the available rebounds while you're on the court.

Curry's rebound rate is 14.4, not spectacular, but pretty solid. It's good for about 40th in the NBA right now. Players with similar rebound rates are Zach Randolph (14.5), Chris Bosh (14.5), and Chris Webber (14.4).

Chris Paul's rebound rate is 9.3 btw, 96th in the league and second among PGs only to Kidd. He's a better rebounder than Iguodala (9.1), Rashard Lewis (9.1), and Dwyane Wade (8.7), and isn't that far behind Mark Blount (9.6) and LeBron James (9.7).

thanks, tom. I knew there such a thing, but I didn't know where to find it.

Knicks lead the league in rebounding. It's been a group effort, but that's mainly because of injuries and the whacky lineups of LB.

Who has done a worse job given the time they have been afforded to succeed: Isiah or Milbury?

2 completely different situations. It's not even on the same spectrum much less different ends.

But they both have done terrible jobs and they both deserve to be booted from their current positions. I was very happy to see Milbury step down and I'll be just as happy to see Isiah gone.

Denver is down by 10 now... I am watching this game. Golden state is a mess of a team also, just as I predicted last year.... geez...

I agree wholeheartedly with tom about the rebounding rate. Also a good rule of thumb is a rebound every four minutes of play.
