Yes let's trade for a 6'3" shooting guard with a huge long term contract who duplicates the skills of our PG, except that he's a worse passer and his jumper is so awful that his jump shooting % is worse than Quentin Richardson's

No thanks

i dont know about you pro guys, but Ill take steve francis over theo ratliff and earl watson 10,000 times over.

for some reason, I think Steve Francis is just a bit better than Q-rich, i dont know maybe im not adding the efg% right. Nah, Ill stick with franchise.

Francis is 2-times better than Qrich. Qrich is a specialist at this point in his career. If his threes aren't falling, he's useless. Francis, at 6'3 can get you 20-6-6. Q-rich couldn't get that in one game!

Francis is not a shooter so much as he is a scorer. He can handle the ball, create his own shot, he can pass it (whether he is a willing passing like Marbs is irrelevant because he'll be playing the sg position) and he's only 27 yrs old I believe. Franchise becomes the second best player on this team and on most nights will look like the best player. You have to do this trade if available!

How can you possibly continue to justify a Steve Francis trade by comparing it to Earl Watson and Theo Ratliff? That's like saying "I'll take Jerome James over druggie Chris Anderson; thus, JJ was a good signing" Or "I'll take Eddy Curry over 5 Kwame Browns; thus, I'd trade 5 first picks of the 1st rd for Eddy." You can make any deal look good if you take full freedom to use whatever players you want as the comparison.

I dont know dude, steve francis is a 20-6-6 player for his career and he just turned it up a notch in the last two weeks. He is FAR superior to anything we have at the 2 guard. dont mention names like jerome james or chris andersen steve francis is a CAREER 20-6-6 nBA player--there arent to many of them in the history of the nBA.

theo Ratliff and Earl watson are the guys rumored to be coming to the Knicks in this deal--thats where im getting this from. Usually there is just a tad bit of truth coming when you have that many teams involved and mulitple sources in the media pick it up.

I like Francis alot. As far as him being a problem he did not have any problems in Houston with Rudy T and his teammates and the other players. He had problems with Orlando. The Magics told him that he was going to be their main guy. Then they turn around and made trades that he was not in favored of, like Mobley for Doug Christie.

I don't know why I bother sometimes. But everyone who thinks I said Q is better than Francis (AGAIN... this happened before too), you fail 4th grade reading. I encourage you to pick up a copy of the Berenstein Bears and get cracking on those reading comprehension skills.

Francis is a headache I'd rather avoid. I'd rather get dependable veterans with good character or young players with upside.

I am pretty sure they were saying those same exact things about Mr. Marbury before he came here and while he was here. I am not a Francis fan in any way, shape or form, but he could be able to help out.

Who cares what "they" were saying. We can reach our own evaluations of the players. Marbury's had some difficulties with teammates but not on even close to the same level of Francis. Marbury doesn't sit out of games because he has "headaches" and doesn't get suspended for character issues

who the heck do you think we can get better than steve francis for an ending contract? you think jalen rose is better than steve--no f way. which player do you think we can get?
I've already listed players I'd target. You've already made it clear in those threads that you don't like those deals. What's the point in restating everything?

I'll go as far a to give them penny, david lee, ariza and robinson for francis.

This is because you can't let Denver land him.

theres no doubt they will make the playoffs if they get stevie benlevey

We definitely should do whatever it takes to stop Denver from getting Francis because of the issue BRIGGS raises about the effects it will have on the pick we just traded for.

I'd be more than happy to have Francis at the 2, with Marbury and Rose we'd have a really nice playmaking tandem out there, along with starting Frye & Curry.

One of the nice things about Jalen is that he's a good rebounder. Because Frye and Curry are not great rebounders, it really helps to have a guy like Rose who can help in that department.

You want to give them three good young players just to ensure that we're picking closer to 15 than 20 or 24 in the draft? Nate alone is a top 12 rookie in almost any ranking. Lee is a very solid player. I wouldn't give up either of them just to move the Nuggets pick up a little. We shouldn't have to give them up to get Steve anyway.

where would you rate him in terms of the league? In Houston, Steve had a few top 20 in the league seasons including his rookie year.

Rate Francis based on what?
Talent = top 20
Character, leadership, attitude etc = Bottom 30
Addressing our Knicks' team needs = low

We have guys who can score. We need tough players. I can't believe people watching think we need another scorer and then everything will be great. We have such a soft team and we desperately need toughness on defense, including blocking and altering shots. I'd take Steve if the price were very low, but I wouldn't be targetting him for this team. And if we did get him, I'd probably wait 'til he and the team had a good stretch and his trade value was high, and then trade him.

One good young player (Lee) Ariza and Robinson don't even crack the rotation of a legit championship contender. In fact, they wont even get uni's just suits and ties.

even when fancis was having migraines there was talk that he was at 1 point a top 10 player.

His value is at an all time low, if he was putting up 20 6 and 6 right now there is no way the knicks would be able to touch him

You take the risk and take francis and maybe he can be packaged in the future for and allstar big.

Im sorry, do you have some type of fear telling the forum just exactly you think we can get with an expiring contract?Im certainly not saying Steve Francis is the end all of our problems, but for an ending contract, you will not do much better than that. The players discussed coming here have been earl watson and theo ratliff--do you actually prefer these players to steve francis? in pure talent, wed be better which would evantually start to work on the W and Ls. This is a league of stars.

If you dont have the cahones to tell us who you want, who we can actually have a reasonable chance to acquire, sans the elton brand KG Paul Pierce BS--Id like to know---or is it that you are just trying to criticize for the heck of it?
