So is this the 1st rd'r owed to Toronto via Denver or is this Toronto's lottery pick??? If so is it protected?

I assume it's Denver's pick but I would LOVE the deal if it were Toronto's pick, esp. if it were unprotected. That would be a dream.

Either way this is still a pretty decent deal for NYK.. IMO

We get a stable two guard/small forward to play along side Steph and Q-Rich. Jalen is gonna make big plays on offense.. Jimmy Walker Jr. is still a heady ball player, all be it with a nasty contract.. but I think getting anoter 1st rd pick is the icing on the cake, especially given the fact that we might not make the playoffs.

Trading A.D. is a risk.. but it does open up more playing time for Channing Frye.. and Mo Taylor is playing his best ball ever as a pro (defensively) this might not be all bad!!!

Curry
Taylor
Rose
Richardson
Marbury

HOPEFULLY MORE TRADES WILL FOLLOW TO BALANCE THIS FLAWED ROSTER

is it nice getting a #1 pick? sure.
does it make sense that we spent $16 + $16 (luxury tax) mil for it? no.

i hope it's at least an unprotected #1 from toronto and not the denver pick...

$32 mil is a lot of money for a pick, no?

This is not bad at all. I suppose Davis's wife's arrest sped this up.

bottom line--if we stay away from the Mo taylor Jerome James Vin Baker types of moves and execute in the draft, eventually we will have a lot of good young talent that can be meshed and formulated. It cost a bundle of $$$$$$$$$$$ but its a necessary evil.

Is it unusual for two teams to do a trade like this right before they play each other? I wonder if Rose and AD will play tonight.

and it was for AD. is this isiah trying to stick it to lb? is the power struggle officially on? or did AD indicate he was going to quit or retire b/c of the whole thing with his wife?

I doubt it. I assume before the season started, Isiah told Larry what he would do with the expiring contracts. Heck, if Larry even remotely followed Dolan's ownership, he would have known before even being offered the job exactly what would happen to AD and Penny.

Doubt it. I dont understand this trade. I wonder what Rose will do for us. We need leadership more than anything.

You know what, Im thinking outside of the box a bit.. we all sit back and question why A.D. and not Penny??? But you know what, more trades are likely to follow.. I'm thinking that Portland deal for Theo Ratliff

I will say that if it's Denver's pick, then I support the trade BUT this is the BARE MINIMUM I would expect Isiah to get for AD's expiring contract. If it's Toronto's pick, then I LOVE the deal.

What happened to all this stuff from Fish and Briggs about it being impossible for the Knicks to take back more salary in order to take back more salary. I can't remember how many times they called me the lowest scum on the face of the earth for thinking the past might repeat itself.

Toronto's needs a veteran center/PF. They'd want AD much more than they'd want Penny.

Good deal for the knicks. It makes us better in the short run in stop-gap fashion but, much more importantly, we get a 1st round pick without extending our payroll beyond 2007. If Marbury is traded for picks and we let Rose come of the books, we are still in a position to offer a max contract in summer 07.

I can deal with Rose if only because we got the pick and his deal is up next year. But Ratliff makes absolutely no sense. He's still under contract for at least three more yrs and he's on the down side of his career. Not to mention he's over 30. I thought we were rebuilding? Please don't bring Ratliff to this team!

There was a report in the NYPOST that Portland would entertain the idea or doing a Lee/Penny swap for Ratliff and Patterson??? We might bite the bullet on that deal seeing that Rose has a few more yrs left on his contract, we are way over the cap, and Ratliff/Patterson expire in the next couple of yrs as well. Not to mention, Theo is Larry's guy!
