I'm sorry but you are under the impression that the rookies have been playing ball the right way. I am not.

You can make mistakes. You are allowed to turn the ball slightly more than the vets. This is a given. But we are now half way through the season and Nate is still making the same mistakes. You either have to see progress or lose minutes. David to me clearly had a drop in intensity after Marbs was injured number one and number 2 has been outplayed by Qyntel. No problem in having him earn his minutes back. Frye plays hard, I love the guy, I see a successful future for him and by my statements over the past few months it should be obvious he is one of my favorite players and is slowly turning into my favorite player in the league by his hard work and effort. That being said it is clear that he is not grasping simple defensive concepts and cannot be rewarded with guaranteed minutes.

I get the feeling some on this site were/are the type of players that didn't do what the coach said and then couldn't figure out why they were benched. For the past 5 years I've been watching players giving inconsistent effort, bonehead plays and listening to career losers and 1st and 2nd year players question the coach and insist on doing things their way. Each time we have asked for and recieved a firing of the coach. My question is: At what point do we get rid of the loser mentality and force the players to answer to themselves?????? 4 coaches in what 3 years? 2 years? At what point do we think it might be the players?

Every day in the papers and from the fans we have people taking pressure off the players and giving them a built in excuse. It's the coach. Nothing gets better. At some point as a Knick fan you have to get sick of blaming the coach and the star player and maybe hope that we get a performing roster. But that's just me. I enjoy winning.

Nate's celebrating a dunk after a 33 point loss should give you all the evidence you need about why our young guys don't get consistent minutes.

The reason why our more talented US teams get smacked on the international front is simple. This attitude that everything should be handed to you. Disciplinarian coach's are a thing of the past. You raise your voice and people get upset. "dont yell at him he's a star" "don't bench him he deserves time". This is why 6, 7, 8 years into guys careers, players like Darius Miles and Eddie Curry etc are still learning basic fundamental things. Because most coach's can't afford to discipline them because they will be fired. It's a shame.

Back to back blow outs, the lead got worse when the young guys were inserted, an 18 year old rookie was given lay-up after lay-up, a rookie flexes after a dunk in a 33 point loss and our fans want to reward the players. This is what I mean when I say in Knickland WE HAVE A LOSER MENTALITY

If our starting line-up consisted of Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace and Tayshaun Prince do you think we'd be watching an inconsistent rotation?

that's a fine eye you have. I would say that of the 3, Lee has been the most consistent rookie. Didn't notice too much that his intensity dropped off, but I would say that he _may_ have been more hesitant on the offensive end of things, but Q2 did pick it up so there is no harm done really.

Being hesitant on the offensive end? Martin isn't that part of it. As a coach I need guys that arent' hesitant. NOw I know eventually David will not be hesitant and this is not an indictment of David but if I have a guy on the bench that is going to keep my offense moving by attacking, like Qyntel than unfortunately I have to take minutes from David. When David understands that he can't be hesitant than he will obviously be improving his game, improving my team, and earning minutes back.

As a winning coach I understand a rookies fear and that's why I keep working with him IN PRACTICE to build this confidence. But as a winner Larry has HIGH STANDARDS, and he can't coddle David. That helps noone. That's what all these AAU coach's do. That's why our players lack fundamentals. Because we are constantly making excuses for the players and blaming someone else.

I've made this point over and over IF our young guys are to develop fast they must have a shorter leash than the vets. Their bad habits must be eradicated so that we aren't five years into their careers teachimg them how to use their left hand, pass out of double teams, play tough defense at all times, make the simple pass, not flex and pose after 33 point losses. If we don't nip it now we will be watching it 3 years from now and blaming Nellie or some other coach for their ineptitude. If our players don't get it, we ship them out to not get it somewhere else and bring in players that will.

I've heard one player on this team give his undying support for LB. His name is Qyntel Woods. Coincidence:

1.) That he was the only guy on this team that has suffered the ultimate consequence of being out of the leauge?
2.) That he has shown the most improvement?

I think the only reason Qyntel Woods has given undying support because he was the only player brought in by LB...not any of the 2 you listed...sorry.

Okay add that to the list then. In the end we can argue about the reasons, but do they really matter?

Our roster is what it is. Who cares if Larry brought it in. Larry didn't draft Iverson, nor did he bring in Rip, Chauncey, Big Ben and Prince to Detroit. It's not an excuse if these aren't "Larry Brown players" I HAAAAAATE when people bring up that term, b/c it's so overrated. Every player in the league should be a "Larry Brown player" b/c they are professionals and playing basketball is their job. You do it the coaches way (Especially a HOF coach) or get traded to a crappy team.

Yeah I'm with you, I'm not sure why that's not an excuse. I'm not a Larry Brown player so it's okay for me to quit and not play D and flex in 30 pt losses. Give me a break.
