Interesting trade to say the least. Seems to me like Boston gave up a ton and I know Wally's contract isn't very small so I'm wondering what the hell Danny Ainge was thinking here. A precursor to future trades maybe?

McK1- why would the Celts trade for a player that plays the same position as their best player, and when Davis was really starting to jell with the team? Davis is the more complete player. Wally is a soft defensive liability.

No way is Wally better than Ricky Davis. They play two different positions and have two different styles of play but you can't say Wally is just better than Ricky. Wally is having a break out season. Ricky is having sort of a break out season too.

we'll see. Kandi gives them an expiring where they previously had none.

Jefferson may see the ball now since Wally Z is a much more willing passer than Ricky and doesn't need the same volume of shots.

In only 3 more games played, Ricky has taken over 130 more shots. Wally Z is getting 20.4. Ricky 19.9

You know there is another side of the basketball court besides offense and Ricky Davis is a better defender then Wally is. Neither one is ever going to see a All-Defense team but Ricky Davis is better.

With West and Pierce on the wings and the shot-blocker in Perkins you can hide Wally Z.

You trade off steals for a great deal more efficient wing play.

I'm actually with Mck1 here. Wally plays smart, has a great attitude, and spreads the offense well. I think he's the best player involved in the trade. I don't think this will make a huge difference for either team, though.

wally is a much better shooter, davis may be slightly better defensively, but not much. i think its a good deal for boston. they get a 1st, clear about 6mil in salary after the season getting them a little below the cap, make room for Perkins to get more time possibly start.

so what is Danny's plan? Ricky and Pierce are not the problem with the celtics. Last season it was Jiri Welsh. I guess Danny is obsessed with having a white swing man. Didn't he grossly over pay for Brian Scalabrine?

Pierce can play SG no question but what is their plan in Boston? All those kids around Pierce and now Wally? Ricky did alot of ball handling so I guess they will have to move the ball more.

It's madness to me.....I'm just glad Danny is over there in Boston and not here. I don't care what anyone says abotu Isiah. Danny is a maniac.

Pierce is a very talented, multi-position player. I would never worry about another player playing "the same" position as Pierce.

This is a good trade by Boston. Wally is having a solid year. He also shoots like 50% every year. Wally and Pierce are going to be a good combo. Pierce will return back to the 2 which he has played before.
