Im going to offically veto this trade. I think there are other ways to go--other routes we can venture. This in essence will still be taking on a max player past his prime--albeit better than other guys we have traded for vet wise. EVEN though its for one year, it still sets the exlempifies what is wrong here. if this comes with pick 24, so what--its to much money and not enough return

What if Mike James comes with Jalen and Denver's pick (which would be in the late teens right now, not 24).

I really just don't see the point. J Rose is a great shooter, which fills a need, but why not at least go for Wally. Minny prolly doesn't want to get rid of him at all, but maybe it's worth a shot. At least he's younger and playing some D and diving on the floor for loose balls and playing a little rough!

Trevor for Mike James, btw: I love Mike James and all, but I'm not sure if I want to do that. I mean, might this just be James's TOP year and then the downswing of his career? We still need to have some patience with Trevor.

Okay, it's actually 20th right now. I like the idea of getting James now even though he's an FA because we can then use the MLE on a young, defensive minded SF or PF and still have James.

Wally's signed for alot longer term, that maybe 1 reason... plus it would take more to get him, he's having a terrific season... Jalen would be a stopgap solution, kinda like the trade they made for KVH, only in this case, the Knicks are getting a 1st round pick... plus Jalen can orchestrate the offense, which this team needs during times when Marbury's not on the floor... Wally's pretty much what Q Rich was supposed to have been for this team, a perimeter shooter... J Rose can shoot from the perimeter too, & he's more versatile.

maybe you should research before making such statements.

In reality, the Knicks may have to stand pat for a while. They have offered Houston to Toronto, but the Raptors are not intrigued by an aging shooter with a history of knee problems and a hefty contract. Toronto has instead asked for 24-year-old Jamal Crawford, whom the Knicks will not part with.

Can you imagine if Wally came to this team? I wonder if Steph would drop the beef...

hold on one sec...

can i say this again:

jalen rose is $16 mil in 06/07 + ANOTHER $16 mil in luxury

that equals $32 MIL for a first round pick (which will probably be in the low 20's).

don't you guys think that it may be better to go to a team and just outright offer cash for that pick if there's someone we desperately want?

rose serves no purpose for us. did you guys not see lee take that little jumpshot off the dribble? why in the blue hell do you want to take minutes away from him?

but sure, whatever, it ain't my money, right?

That's Dolan's money so I don't care what he does with it.

james dolan had to reduce his charitable donations by $25 million dollars because of the increase in knicks payroll this year.

he usually donates somewhere in the vicinity of $40 mil but could only donate around $15-17 due to the big deals we took back.

those charities include SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), MADD (mothers against drunk driving), and TheTruth.Com (against smoking).

so the knicks payroll is now killing infants in bed, in cars, and over the long haul by choking them to death.

you guys are unreal.

Well that would be right if MADD was still about fighting drunk driving instead of being a neo-prohibitionist movement. But point taken.

come on man, that's ridiculous... you seriously want us to take into consideration whether or not Dolan will have enough money to donate to charity when considering roster moves for this team? should we start researching the amount of starving children Dolan could have sponsored if Isiah just hadn't signed Jerome James to that ridiculous contract too? let's not start talking about such topics... they're nobel causes, but don't belong in this discussion... keep it strictly to basketball issues.

salary cap money aside- personally, if we're saving them $16m, there should be no question of lottery protection on the denver pick.

For as long as we're on that topic, it's a fact that Dolan has cut down on MSG security, severely. I hardly ever see any ushers in the arena, besides on the floor level. In fact, they don't even have any metal detectors or pat people down. Just a little fact, since dj reminded me of that.
