Rojasmas, I'm not dissing Carlisle. I'm just disagreeing with your downgrading Larry's performance with the Pistons. Plus you didn't mention that the Lakers weren't so psychologically messed up to have prevented them from going through the Western Conference in the playoffs and arriving at the finals as the prohibitive favorite against Detroit.

I said LB was overrated in the offseason and caught hell. He shouldn't be up there with Riley and Phil Jackson, but alongside Rick Adelman, Jerry Sloan and George Karl. He has won one championship. Look at his career playoff record. Bird did better than him with the same team when he took over after Brown's Pacers quit on him. He takes the joy out of the game. He wants the credit for winning and no blame for losing. It's all about him. Don't let the "I love you guys" and the "making the kids better" act fool you. Hubie Brown turned around the Grizzlies in two years. George Karl came in and turned around the Nuggets last year. Immediately. So if you want to give him a pass this year, I expect 50+ next year for ten million a year. If not he will be stealing money, just like Penny and TT are accused of. Perform already.

If you've watched the Knicks play over the last three years you would know nobody takes the joy out of the game or the team more than Stephon Marbury. Larry is always blaming himself and telling the media that he needs to coach his team better--but how many times have you heard the players say that they need to play better? The Nuggets were already a playoff team when Karl arrived--and what championship did the Grizzlies win with Hubie? I forget. Larry was brought here to win a championship, plain and simple. If these players are not capable then they will look bad playing for Larry and will continue to lose.

The Nuggets were floundering last year until Karl took over. Check the record before and after or I will mail it to you if you want. The point with Hubie is that he took a 28 win team and made it a 52 win team the following year. That's all. Results. And so, if we stink, we should just throw our hands in the air and say, "It's not Larry's fault, he can't be the problem. The players aren't getting it." Sorry, it doesn't work that way in sports in general. And certainly not in NY. Make the players better, or find new players. You took the job, do the job. Or quit. But don't steal money.

Marv, I agree that the Pistons championship was Larry's one defining moment. Don't mean to downplay it. Just think Carlisle could have done it too with his team, especially if Rasheed were on board. We'll never know. I wasn't the one saying anything about psychological damage with the Lakers that year. That's way too LA jibberish for me.

^It doesn't matter how many regular season wins you get, it's how well you do in the playoffs. Face it, most of our guys do not know how to play, we have a bunch of freelancers who are used to getting by on individual talent alone. I can't believe people even suggest Larry is not working hard with this team.

50 games from now I don't want to see Ariza outletting the ball to Antonio Davis on the fastbreak. 50 games from now I don't want to see David Lee with his head down on a free throw not realizing that it is the shooters last free throw. 50 games from now I don't want Marbury still trying to figure out when to dish and when to shoot. 50 games from now I don't want to see JCraw still pretending to fight through screens. 50 games from now I don't want to see Eddie Curry trying to fight his way to a lay-up when he is quintuple teamed. All these guys have been yanked from line-ups for these things. LB will not compromise so that we can brag about 40 wins. Stick to the system that works and let all us people that would be laughed out of a coaching interview sit back and overanalyze and pretend we know it all.

that is an excellent point, It is all about the foundation, some if not most of these guys have so many bad habits to break, until that happens it is hard to impliment a system when guys can't do simple basketball things correct. I think we will get there and when we do, with the talent and youth we have, you will see a much better product..

I'm sorry, you're right that was someone else.

I like Carlisle too. Was he really that bad a communicator or did Larry really take Joe "under his wing" and guide his actions? Like perhaps he did with Isiah? Wow, maybe Larry's really a Svengali. Larry, Riley and Phil are an intense trio of Machiavellians, aren't they? Darn rich ones too!

Larry Galvanized the Pistons. They were a good team before, he made them great.

It was a little much this summer when Larry was getting credit for making the 76ers an above average team. Iverson might have had something to do with it. Maybe if AI had better players around him than Snow, who Brown loves, he would have won a championship.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Find me a couple players who can play with Allen Iverson, there aren't many. He's chased every good player away from that team.

I thought Snow played great next to AI. He moved a lot and hit his open shots, like Kerr or Paxson with MJ. He played a lot of D. He was able to create and dish at times. He played physically and he was clutch.

I agree he is a pain in the butt, but he can almost will a team to .500 by himself. Chris Paul is doing the same thing now with New Orleans. Both are amazing.

I agree with what Phil Taylor says.

Where is the consistent lineup? Why bitch about our flaws and sabotage our strengths? This is an extremely talented group. This group should be scoring at will against most teams in the league. We've had four different players this year go off for 30 pts in Frye, Curry, Craw and Marbury. I also firmly believe Q is still a weapon but he's being used so poorly it's a joke.

Maybe this group of ballers isn't what Brown wants, but any decent coach in the league SHOULD be able to design a highly effective offense with this group. And it's not like Brown is working any wonders on defense, either.
