omg!

I loved & defended KT and I wish him the best- but don't look at this deal as a Q for KT- look at it as a KT for Nate with Q as filler!

If/when nate puts it together, you'll forget about Q.

How many teams would trade a starting 6'9 PF that can give you 10/10 and good interior defense every night for a 5'7 SG who is just a 10-15 minute sparkplug off the bench. I'm thinking none. Oh wait, Isiah would.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Sure, KT puts up good numbers- but face it, he was on the wrong end of his career- its down hill.

Nate is 1. cheaper, 2. younger, 3. potential game changer, 4. potential part of winning knick franchise

I love KT, but, by the time the knicks put it together, he is going to be at least 35+ and I doubt he will be 10 & 10 then!

Might Nate be a bust? Absolutely- he might be out of the league in 1 year. But, its a worthwhile gamble.

I'm not saying you keep KT but there must have been a better market for a 10/10 PF who plays good defense than just a 5'7 SG sparkplug who comes off the bench for 10-15 minutes a game.

Last three years Q has shot below 40%. Last year he played with Nash who all but hands his teamates baskets on a silver platter. Marbury doesn;t do that. You have to get your own. Q has a hard time gettin his own because he can't create his on shot off the dribble. He's strong, but his not very athletic. Has a hard time creating space for himself to shoot.

Islesfan, you hit it on the head, there was a much better market out there for KT.

he's got no confidence, but at least he tends not to force things and plays under control. I think the reason Larry brown left him in the game was because he is a strong guard and vince carter couldn't post him up like he could ariza, and because even though he's been shooting terribly, he still keeps defenses honest and doesn't really hurt the flow of the team. Keeping him in over Ariza means that you need to stay up on him beyond 20 feet; more importantly, he'll move the ball around and won't force a bad shot or make a blatantly bad pass most of the time. I wish he'd start regaining some confidence because if he hit some of those open 3's he has been missing, our team would be in a lot more games.

WOW, I don't think I've agreed with ISLESFAN more on anything than this. Nate is cool and all but when it really comes down to it how many GREATS in OUR time are 5'7.

And we were trading KT for what GREAT player?

WTF is wrong with you people- there were maybe three people on this board standing up for KT- the rest of you all wanted him out of town- addition by subtraction.

And Nate doesn't have to be great- just a game changer like Earl Boykins is for Denver- this year he's off the bench, 26 mins and 12 pts & 4 asts per game.

I think people are maybe giving up on Q-Rich too quickly. He needs a better defined role and more time to find his shot. Bottom line: we trade him now and we're going to get back an even worse player.

The Knicks need to get Q out of his funk and then decide whether he fits or to move him. Q's had a pretty rough year, I'm willing to give him a little time.

Kenny Thomas??? Why?

Wasn't QRich supposed to post up this year? Let's start running some plays for him that aren't 3's and tell him to stop taking 3's. He's looked awful, and I really dislike his game and would love to have him gone, but its just not plausible right now. The times he has looked good was when he was crashing the boards and finishing from in close.

And for pete's sake, if he's not yet healthy, shut him down untill he can get healthy instead of constantly bringing him back after missing a couple of games. He brings nothing to the table for us right now.

Good points by Big beast. If Q can't shoot 50% in Phoenix with Steve Nash spoonfeeding, how is he going to do it here? Healthy or not. I would take Kenny Thomas for him in a second. Doubt that Sac would.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Q's EFG was well over 50% in PHO.

He was a very solid rebounder under Brown and even though we are short guards, Id like to get him out of here ASAP. He is NOT part of the plan here, it was kind of a reckless move because of the length of Q-richs$. I think we can bring KT back in, start him at 4 and bring his value back up with Frye backing him up.

Can Q be traded for anyone with his back and his contract?

right now i definately think he is very hard to trade due to his performance and his back problems. its defianately easier for him to just get healthy (if possible) and find his stroke. he is a shooter by nature, he just needs to get it together.
