Thats like saying, I dont want Dennis Rodman because hes nuts. For lee or ariza to reach the height s of what Ron Artest has in the NBA in the next 2-3 years, it would be of miracle proportions. Ron Artest is a 6-7 260 pound monster NBA impact player of monumental proportions, maybe a first team all nba player at peak.

listen i dont know ron artest, im sure there are a couple of guys who post here who do, im sure isiah may not like him, may think hes crazy, and he might be. and i would still give them ariza lee and Davis in a milli-second.

Except for Shaq, the next guy on the list who intimidates people is Artest. I think 80-90% of the nBA players are scared of him and loathe to match up with him. Hes physically intimidating and crazy, yet also has incredible skills both ways. You can put Ron Artest 1-1 with ANY top player in the league on the wing, and hes going to shut or slow them down. When you are able to shut down a top player, your chances of winning just went up quite a bit. hes an impact player, bottom line

im in favor of rebuilding, but thats a joke at this point--we have nothing to rebuild with other than from within

and within is just not going to cut it, seriously.

Artest is a rare player. He's only 26 and you don't see players who are so good both ways. I doubt ANY of the players we have now will ever be as good as Artest. He is a headcase but he will impact the game more than Azira or Lee could ever. Every team has their prospects. Very few of those become NBA elite like Artest.

Okay, you see Artest was just suspended for like a whole season because he attacked the wrong guy in the stands who threw beer at him. Mind you this was after Ben Wallace had just pushed him off the court upon which time Artest decided he would put his arms behind his head and lay out on the scorers table and then of course on to the reenactment of a scene from Batman Begins.

Fast forward one year later and Artest states publicly that he doesn't like playing for his coach because he should be getting the ball more and more playing time (this of course doesn't jibe with the stats). Thusly, biting the hand of the team, the coach, the gm and playes that all stood behind him when no one else would. He states he only wants to play for the Knicks....effectively biting the ass of the entire organization by destroying any leverage they might have to trade him.

Then after discussing it with his agent he comes back and states that he'll go anywhere. Then after talking it over with all of his multiple personalities he states he wants to play for Indiana. Okay.....do we need to go over this again?

The dude is BONKERS! Yes, he's intimidating to most players. But he's intimidating to most coaches, gm's, owners and...fans too (specially the ones in the stands)

Briggs, If this guy was second only to Shaq in the way you say he is he'd be traded by now. Nobody wants to give up anything for him. He's Indiana's problem. His teamates think he's nuts and the leader of the team stated quote" if they bring him back then i've gotta go" unquote. Nobody wants him for anything substantive.

Now i'll humor you for a bit. If by chance we can get him for AD and whatever else (then maybe). If a sign and trade involving Penny and AD can be done with throwins from the Pacers (Bender?) then i'm all for it. All Big Ifs. But, there is no need to overpay for this guy.

I've worked as a Dean in some of the high schools i've worked at and honestly this reminds me of how certain kids react to adults physically standing up to them. What I see is that Isiah stood up to this nut and in hindsight Artest respects that. Fast forward a few years and Artest feels the Knicks with Isiah in charge is the one place he feels he will be held in check...because he knows he's unhinged.

Knowing that all Isiah has to do is stand pat and Artest will fall to him. This kids a pariah..meaning NY is the ideal place for him to start over...just not at the expense of the younguns.

you forgot the part where ron said that he would stop acting up and that he owes indiana a championship earlier this season, just prior to his demands for a trade.

Oh yeah, you mean the part where he said he has to stop acting like a knucklehead...right? Hold on, you talking about the first apology after the Detroit fiasco or after this latest stunt? I'm confused.

Man, this cat flip flops more than John Kerry

Oh and Slim is that statement a good statement or a bad one?

This guys has phuched over every coach he has played for. The headaches in teh playoffs the season before last, the Elbow that got him ejected, etc etc.

This guy phuched over Isiah and helped get him fired! If our brain trust wants to take him on, there ain't a thing I can do but cheer and hope for the best.

But if you really want to win a championship, your really want this guy who has yet to react well to pressure?

^ Not really.

You're thinking of Phil Jackson...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Ariza, Lee, Nate....I think don't think any of these 3 should be untouchable for Artest. We're in a damned position anyway you slice it...the only way out is to take some chances.

No, we don't need to trade Lee and Ariza for Artest. Constant panic and itching and moaning. It makes me not even want to post here because it gets just downright monotnous.

Briggs I know you've begged countless times for a rebuild and here we are with atleast 7 solid younguns (Ariza, Lee, Frye, Jackie Blue, Nate and Curry) and you wanna ditch two of them before we make it through half a year hardly. Truthfully, I don't think you're capable of taking the beatdown that everyone in their right mind knew was going to happen during a Rebuild. Folks up here can't stop themselves from honking the car horn eventhough there's 20 cars bumper to bumper in front of them in transit strike traffic.

If you wanna analyze the kids play or playing time...fine. If you wanna debate the merits of LB's system and substitution patterns...fine. If you wanna discuss trades that's even fine...it just get's tedious when it's obvious that Indiana isn't being offered nearly what you put forward from other teams. All Isiah has to do is sit tight and he will fall to us. JUST CHILL OUT...and enjoy the Christmas season. Go have some turkey and an egg nog...hell walk under some missletoe and get some tongue action with your main squeeze. Just stop turning everything into something it's not.

Respectfully, read the caption and have a wonderful holiday.

lee and ariza combined will never be artest.

Briggs, - This argument is exactly why this thread is ridiculus - you're not getting Artest for Lee and Ariza. You're much smarter then to think this has any likely hood of happening. You're talking about trading a top talent and admittedly a major head case for one guy who is hardly even getting minutes and another who is starting only by default. It ain't gonna happen - there are too many teams in the league for that to happen even in a firesale situation.
