Also, Isiah could have given up Lee instead.
Talk is cheap. Show me the proof or don't expect me to take that seriously. And don't quote Briggs as your proof. I can quote Bugs Bunny as proof that Briggs is wrong.

buggs bunny would have more credibility I think..

I NEVER saw that stuff about keeping Lee/lottery protection. It was REPORTED ALL OVER THE PLACE that the hold up was Lee, the 2nd rders appeased the Bulls, had nothing to do with the lottery picks. Sucks that our pick to Bulls could be a lottery pick, but it has nothing to do with Lee. How did this even get started?

this is a dumb thread... sure does look like we are heading to a top 5 pick right now. Sure does look like we could use a top 5 pick. A Carmello, Wade or Danny Granger.

If any of them were in next years draft then I could see, do you see any of that potential in the draft?

NYK included the two 2nd rd picks to keep David Lee. Bulls wanted Lee/NYK wanted to keep him. That was the compromise. The 2006 1st rd pick and right to swap in 2007 weren't the issue. That was REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES IN NUMEROUS PAPERS - 2nd rd picks instead of Lee. Don't give a f--- what someone imagines about NYK valuing Lee more than the picks cuz it isn't true. When someone just makes up crap I agree with somebody else calling them on it and saying "show me proof." I noticed no one showed any proof of it either. Cuz none exists. Don't know what Layden has to do with it either. There's no proof about the Lee nonsense so let's change the subject and talk about Layden.

great post, but why show proof when you can go on spreading crap like that over and over again, the exaggerations to prove your point and the myth's to make you look like you know what you are talking about, I am glad Bonn called him on that one...

if it was lee over the 2nd roung picks in 07 abd 08 then I think keeping lee was the right move.

We don't really know what it was but that scenario certainly sounds much more plausible th an Rich's scenario.

It's not my scenario, it's what was widely reported. None of us know what is discussed in negotiations. As a result, we rely on the MSM for information. When there is a consensus among the various news outlets, the information is usually correct.
There's hardly any consensus here. SlimPack's claim was very widely reported, though. It comes off as very gullible when you don't even qualify your post and just state it as fact that Isiah kept Lee to avoid lottery protection on multiple picks.

Your posts demonstrate that you view Isiah's decisions as sacrosanct, but I'm gullible? Um...k.

always... especially with a top 5 pick. Memphis has a freshman Shawne Williams who will become a big name soon. Obviously we need a 3, but even if there isnt one high picks always give you leverage. No picks give you none.

Curry is tangable. 22 yrs old, immature kid.

During a losing streak having your lotto pick is intangable. What pick it really is, also intangable. Speculating who you could take is intangable.

Move to about 38 wins and your about a 10 pick. INtangable, but also must be considered.

If your not happy with curry, then thats the point. If he does not play again this season and we up the lotto, its really does not matter. We don't have it anymore. It can be the 1, it can be the 15, its of no value to us.

Isiah thinks Curry is better than any pick he can make this regardless of the order. I can live with that. With Fryes explosive growth, Sweets was expendable.

The rest is all speculation and one or two mans opinion. Nothing more. If your going to rebuild you need a big man. Curry for all his short falls is tangable. His weeknesses are exposed and Isiah is willing to think that he can improve, and thinks he can mature into a better work ethic. There are not great big men in the draft, and certainly nothing that screams NBA ready. Curry is an NBA player that can contribute now, and still have upside.

The thought of Curry-Frye is excellent. Prior we had nothing! Frye has been a big upside, and curry a late summer gift. We got big, and we got very young upfront. If Reezy and Qdog can put it together, we are very set up front! Our bench ain't bad. We got one problem which is the point, and we working on that.

Im really just fine with our outlook. WE need time and patience. And a few tweeks.

I can't argue with that point fish, but I do look at curry as the same type of asset, Don't you?

time will tell all. if somehow the bulls walk out with sweetney - two top 5 picks--- two second round picks and curry is what he has been i.e 15-6 play 65 games--we could be hosed to drastic proportions IF we improve IF Curry LOSES 25 pounds and is able to play 35+ minutes for 80 those are the intangibles--lot of iFs both ways mainly dependant on Curry's work ethic.

we shouldnt be talking about this --a package of sweetney a lottery protected 1 and a 2nd round pick is more than fair compensation for a player that had 0 chance of resigning with the bulls and wasnt likely to sign with anyone else

as for the lee stuff, usually when sources are coming from both sides of the river, there is some rality to it. I dont believe that they said 2 2nd rounder for le, i do believe that the swap of picks and 2nd rounders because it just makes sense and was reported two ways. Paxson probably pushed the envelope and isiah started adding gifts.

thats the key Curry losing 25+ pounds. if he can do that all should be fine. the excuses of hes immature he this, he played for the bulls is jibberish. Hes a 23 years old man with a 60mm$ contract and HE has the RESPONSIBILITY of losing that weight, playing 80 games and continually improve his game. What I talked about on the other thread IMPROVING FROM WITHIN--thats how it is done. Coming at 100% physical fitness.

Ever play the telephone game when you were a kid? You ccan open up 16 papers and they all get the same quotes. A coach says 30 different things and all the papers run the exact same 3 quotes? If everyone is getting their information from the same source it doesn't matter how many papers are reporting it. If they are all getting the same misinformation it is still wrong.

Stop believing what you read in print. Take it as a possibility and go from there. These guys have their own agendas and all network with the same people. We are all starved for information and therefore are willing to believe anything we read. WE defend it by sayign 20 people said it so it must be true. WE all know in our hearts this is not the case. But we refuse to go with our hearts because this would mean we don't really know what's going on.

Agreed 100%, and the benchmark for Curry will be the beginning of next season. This season is almost a wash cause of his contract holdout this summer and we are seeing the results. This last injury was a fluke thing; Curry was looking much better over the past few days.

if this is true, why not shut Currry down get him in shape and ready to go at the start of next season. Do him like the Bills did MacGahee. Get Lee on the court. Make Jerome James earn his pay. Push the rebuild agenda to the max.

you misunderstand my meaning. The benchmark part is whether or not Curry is worth his salary and if he is a guy who will improve and get himself into shape for the season.

The point is Isiah doesn't know what he is doing, doesn't have a plan he wants to win and he is trying to rebuild bringing in more and more salary he has made numerous mistakes and seems to get a pass because layden did such a terrible job....

Kurt Thomas was a rush move now we are stradled with his contract and a back that will likely break in a year or so, and we have nate to show for it, who may be good down the road....

And giving away our draft pick is absurd under the situation and listening to isiah say he has evaluated the draft and doesn't feel any player has the impact that curry will have.....Curry is never in shape when a contract is not at stake, doesn't like the game and is lazy when he isn't getting it on the block......

There are a number of good players in this draft that would be real assets to have, not to mention teams always give up assets for picks......

And Danny Granger is a stud, they just haven't played the kid he is going to be an all-star someday, and i bet if isiah was willing to part with Ariza and the 30 he could have got him, or even next years pick......

Donny Walsh isn't rushing into any deals and thats what a GM does he just doesn't add Malik Rose for the 30th pick and then sign Jerome James, thats nearly 13 million right there! He could have singed Nazy for 6-7 over 3 and he would have been a much better backup center, but he is stupid.....

Adds Mo Taylors contract for no reason at all, one way players with attitudes conditioning problems, and character flaws as players is never a recipe for a winning team......

Knicks mgmt is going to have to take the active hand in that. Put his ass in a gym. Why try and play him into shape? Seeing him huffing and puffing and on the sidelines for a third of the games so far only casts further doubt on the move.

Exactly; maybe if you had quotes in print from both GMs, you could give it more weight, but that's obviously not the case here. Even if you did want to rely on what's in print, SlimPack is 100% correct that the most commonly printed scenario was with Isiah deciding between offering Lee and offering the 2 2nd rd picks. It really puzzles me that two posters here take it as fact with no qualifications that we chose Lee over lotter protection on two first rd picks.

Curry needs to play regardless. Used this season as a long training camp. Theres a huge difference in sleeping in the gym, working yourself into shape, and actually playing in games to get into game shape. Curry, LEE, Ariza, Frye, Robinson, Woods should be getting lots of minutes. It makes no sense to me, for a team thats rebuilding, to have taylor, AD, and Rose get more minutes than Lee.

MS= good point about Kurt Thomas. that wasn't a good trade at all. I was all for moving Thomas, it leaves minutes behind for Frye to develop. But Richardson has turned into a specialist. He can;t create his own shot off the dribble, and he's not as good in the post as he should be with hs size.

And for Isiah to say, he looke over the draft and didn't like any of the players better than Curry. Well, of course you'll pick a player with NBA experience over the potential of a draft pick. The question is, why did you have to give the Bulls an unprotected pick for a player with a heart condition and no interest from any other teams. And when Isiah was looking over next years draft, Rudy Gays name must have been mysteriously left off. We need a SF and Gay is gonna be a stud in the NBA
