what is outstanding talent--a 35 inch vertical leap and 7-1? butler has VERY good hands very good fundamentals
he catches the ball, he's very smooth and soft at the basket--hes strong and can rebound in traffic, he may be 6-9 or so, but he has long arms that compensate for lack of height. hes not flashy, but if this cat gets 14 FGA's hes taken down 8 of them with 8+ rebounds with the PT once he gets rolling. I would definitely cater to LOCKING up Jackie Butler LONG term WAY before Ariza.
He has a nice touch around the rim and a good nose for the ball, but I'll have to see more from him before I'm convinced he could get something like 16+ppg consistently, on 57% shooting no less. He does have skills but I don't know if he'll be anything like a go-to scorer in his career.
But yeah, at this point if I had to let one or the other go, I think I'd let Ariza go as well. Still early in the season though, things can change, but Butler seems to just have a better grasp and more well rounded game for his position than Ariza does for his.
