Camby is having a phenomenal season, but not quite an MVP season I think. He is currently 9th in PER at 24.8, and ranks 17th in the Roland Rankings as of yesterday. (Quite surprisingly, his net +/- is essentially break-even at -0.1.)
I assume PER does not take into account altered shots (that aren't blocked). He might be higher than 9th if it did. The +/- should take into account altered shots in the sense that they would help the team while he's on the floor.

PER is basically a manipulation and summation of box score stats, so no, altered shots don't show up. (I'm sure Brand does lots of things that aren't attributed to him by boxscore stats either.) And anyway, like I said, Camby's +/- is right around 0. No idea why that is, but there it is. It would probably be higher if you looked at adjusted +/-.

Cassell's been huge for the Clips, and I'd probably attribute their turnaround more to him than Brand. But I'd still go with Brand for MVP as he seems to have taken his game to the next level. He's playing out of his mind right now.

yeah, funny thing about Cassell: very quietly has won two rings, took a team with Glenn "cancer" Robinson and Tim "cancer" Thomas deep in the playoffs, was the first guy to get KG out of the first round and now it looks like he'll be the guy who helps get Brand to the playoffs for the first time. He's an underrated player.

i personally thought cassell was very close to mvp 2 years ago. the bottom line with sam--every team he plays on wins big---he signed a TERRIBLE contract for his talent level at his prime age.

Fish said Marion and I'd have to agree....he should get some consideration.

Lebron is having a crazy year.

Brand is the man though.

Between those three you will find your MVP.

Brand, To be able to talk about the Clippers and it's positive and there in first place (yeah I know it's early...but still). That alone gets my vote

I would give the MVP to Garnett at this point of the season. The Wolves are coming off a season where they missed the playoffs and their coach was fired. Garnett has the Wolves in first place and the Wolves are a contender in the West again.

Nash. Suns are 12-6 and are playing without two starters from last year in Joe Johnson and Amare.

Marion plays out of his mind becasue of nash.

Watch a few suns games, Nash's game is not in the box score, its on the court. His uncanny ability to create space for his mates, including marion is unbelieveable!

Sweets, he is the next brand!

A lot of Sweetney supporters kept saying Sweetney doesn't need to lose weight because he uses his weight to his advantage. But look at what the weight loss did for Brand. Brand is still extremely strong. That's not going to change just because he lost 20 pounds of fat. Imagine how much better Sweetney could be if he had come in with the same improvement in his conditioning that Brand had. Sweetney would still be extremely strong and able to get great position in the low post but he'd actually be much quicker laterally and able to beat guys down the court. He could a lot from Brand.
