Butler has been damn impressive for a young, raw, undrafted pickup. We should hold on to him tight. He is becoming a solid backup at PF/C.

Ariza has had no confidence this season. Just like Craw, he's had a hard time adjusting to the voice of Larry Brown swimming around in his head. We all saw what Craw did last night, and it's a promise of what's to come as these works in progress mature. Ariza is still missing a shot, though.

or...do they bring marbs back to Georgia?

Don't get me wrong, just appeasing the thread...I love Starbury and believe he will be on the team when we are challenging for the title next year or the one after....seriously...I do.

I agree with everyone's assertion that they should have drafted Chris Paul. Both of their summer moves countered each other. They have made JJ less effective by trying to make him play out of position. Imagine if he had Chris Paul setting him up for open J's. His shooting percentages have really struggled this year since he basically has to carry the scoring load on his own. Stupid Stupid move. Especially when you have Josh Smith and Josh Childress.

think he would trade marvin williams for frye straight up now? not saying we should at all, but we should definitely be happier with our draft than they should.

by the way, all this talk about Billy Knight hating IT made me wonder. that one poster who keeps trying to **** in our cereal after every win? what's his name? "Knight," isn't it...

LOL!!!

I'd do Ariza, Butler, and Q but I doubt they would. Harrington would make our frontcourt very formidable and young.

um...this is not a very good trade idea. I suggest you head back to the drawing board and try again. We basically lose both of our diamonds in the rough.

Rough is the right word. Ariza is very over-rated on this board. He can't put the ball on the floor, is afraid to shoot because he knows what everybody else in the NBA knows is that he can't hit water if he fell out of a boat, so he continually drives after passing a wide open shot and gets into trouble. I'm not dissing the guy, he does have raw athletic ability and is active on the O-boards and defends well, but he is so far from a polished product.

Ok, I'm with you on that if no one bites at our expiring contracts or our "role players for a team making a run". But if that's the way we go, which draft picks? Do you have any trade ideas to get them? Which players might we draft in 06?

The CW so far has been that it's going to be a weak draft... Do we have to wait until 07 to fill our 3 spot needs?

Doesn't he play for a crappy team with no coaching structure and he's putting up 18/8, he comes here and we have Frye, Curry, Craw and Marbs...no way he's gonna get 18/8.

Wouldn't he basically be ariza (costing WAAAAAY More BTW) and be allowed to shoot when ariza is allowed to shoot?

Are we looking to just pick up pieces (like everyone has critisized zeke for doing so far) or are we looking to compliment our current core to put us over the top?

If this were fantasy basketball, I'd make the trade, but unfortunately, we have Larry Brown coaching the team, and he doesn't run Phoenix' offense.

At this point, I'd rather have TT for the mid level exception (i.e. Free)

have you ever even seen him play?

Al Harrington is better than everybody playing 3 or 4 on the Knicks except Frye.

look at the numbers he put up in Indy. When O'Neal was hurt his last 2 years Al kept them afloat avging like 18 and 10.

Al Harrington would be a Larry kind of guy. He boards and is tough. He's no genius, but this is only basketball. He would score in the flow of the offense and get cheap buckets and get to the line. I think he would be the perfect complement to Frye in a Larry system. But we can't trade Frye for him. They need to co-exist as our forwards.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Q, Lee to Denver

Dre to Atlanta

Harrington to NY
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

So who wants our expiring contracts or some other expendable pieces in return for a point Atlanta wants?

Atlanta Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
Al Harrington

Incoming
Andre Miller

New York Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
David Lee
Quentin Richardson

Incoming
Al Harrington

Denver Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
Andre Miller

Incoming
David Lee
Quentin Richardson

Successful Scenario
Due to New York and Denver being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York and Denver had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Why is Denver trading their startring PG for Q who looks done right now, and for some marginal role player who gets random minutes?

I'm not saying Q is done forever, or that Lee is actually a marginal role player, but put yourself in Denver GM's position. How can he make a trade for a guy that is showing all indications of a career cripplin back injury, and a guy who was just a very late 1st round pick and who hasnt really cracked the rotation of a bad (once again lookin from the outside) team?

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Because Denver has 3 pg's and no definitive answer at the 2, and they need a big man because Nene is hurt and with K-Mart and Candy man, its only a metter of time. It makes sense for them, A.Miller is expendable.
