his feet look set to me. Your feet don't HAVE to point to the basket. The point is, by the time the move was over, he was WIIIIDE open and he came to a quick stop, hence, it was a simple set shot afterwards. It was all so quick, but it's a move Jamal can do. A year ago, Jamal would have attempted that move from 28 feet away, the defender just would have backed off and when he picked up his dribble, he would have gone right back up on him, knowing that Craw would have jacked it up, (Which he would). This year, he has a good arsenal from midrange, which is becoming more and more defined each game. If he can keep it up, we will be set at our guard position.
His feet were set, but he had to adjust himself after he landed. His feet were initially facing about teen feet to the left of the basket. If you can throw off your defender as badly as he did there, you'll have all the time in the world to adjust your feet. If you don't throw off your defender and don't have time to adjust your feet, you'll either (a) force up the shot and likely hit the left side of the rim or (b) pass the ball realizing that you're not gonna get a good shot off. This obviously wasn't an issue this time but would be an issue against top defenders, in which case I'm hoping Jamal doesn't choose option (a). That move was simply outstanding, though. Jamal has skills that SO FEW players even at the NBA level have. That's why I have such huge expectations for him.
