playing much better than summer league.

i'll give it 3 hail maries

I wouldn't put much stock on what happened to Frye in the Summer Leagues, there were something like 30-40 referees vying for a couple of opening in the NBA which was the reason there were som many fouls called during that period, Frye just happened to be one of the victim of over zealous refs trying to make in the NBA.

wat r u talkin about glipses of bynam... i watched all he does is foul.. wtf r u talkin about lol

when Im looking at Bynum play, I understand that this is a kid that just turned 18, hasnt finished growing and has very little in terms of body of work. Last night, he showed glimpses of what he can do simply by going straight to the basket--he couldve easily scored 10 points in 10 minutes, but missed two point blank shots, but still was impressive on the offensive boards going over any Net quite easily. Hes an interior player and when is final product is done, there will be some teams that will realize they missed a 7-3 boat. We got a real good player, so I can be happy about that.

this is where he gets the soft label from. he sits on the perimeter some games and just shoots jumpers and gets 0 rebounds at 6-11. We really do not need channing taking 10 jumpshots--more like 6-7 jump hooks/layups and 3 jump shots

There is no excuse for the rebounding. He just needs to get better. He doesnt have that nack for the ball. He just watches too much. But as for the jump shots. I cant blame him for that. he gets frozen out 99% of the time when he is on the block. Watch on Wednesday when they run thier sideline out of bounds. He sets a downscreen for the point guard and posts. always open but never catches there, nor in the normal offense. This is far from his college game where it was a lot more like 7 jump hooks 3 jump shots. But i think he needs to catch on the block more. He doesnt usually force shots and typically gets to the line a ton, so if he does get a chance to mix it up more it will really help the offense.

frye needs to learn to box out, alonzo mourning was jumping in from like 5 feet away from the basket over multiple knicks to get rebounds.

listen, no disrespect, but I think Channing is going to be a very nice player in this league. When Isiah says that this is Tim Duncan 2 or that Eddie Curry comes around ever 20 years, it's blastamy hogwash. Let Channing develop into what he will be--comparing him to the best player in the nBA for years running is absurd. Hes a REAL good young player.

I agree that Frye is soft on the rebounds, but in terms of his offense, I though he was getting aggresive early, but his shots were just getting blocked by Mourning. It just wasn't a good night. I wouldn't call that dunk attempt soft either. Crazy yes. Soft no. I was actually going to say that Steph missed him about 15 times (Again!) on those pick and roll plays. It was pretty frustrating. He was hitting those shots early. If he hits shots, continue feeding him the ball if he's open! until the D collapses on him. Then you can start the penetrating. Our defense tonight was terrible though.

See I dont know if i call him soft rebounding. He just isnt a great rebounder. And that is one of the few things i dont know if he will ever be. Some guys just have a nack for it, others dont. But it will help his offensive boards when he starts playing in the low post more, purely based on position.

Isiah never said that about Channing. I don't see anything wrong with the GM trying to boost a player's confidence. You take the spin GMs give a little too gullibly IMO.

Bonn, this is boosting confidence:

"Hey Channing! If anyone else besides Shaq or Ben Wallace were in the paint tonight, you would have had a mega game. You are going to be quite a good player. Keep your head up and keep shooting that rock b/c you are sooooo good at that. Keep up the good work and keep getting better. You're doing great out there!"

Bloating someones ego is "Hey's the next Tim Duncan." When you think of it, it's an absolutely ridiculous and even unfair statement and expectation b/c now Channing might think he has to live up to that crap and feels the need to do too much. We all know he's not Tim Duncan. I think he'll be an all star, and he's tied as my fav player, but if he was like Duncan, he'd be dominating off the bat.

Marbury (not Isiah) said that five years from now, Channing can be like Tim Duncan. It's definitely excessive but it's a bit different from your simple quote above. Is it worth making a huge deal over? Not in my opinion.
