Curry OR Frye was what most of us were talking about. Curry AND Frye is too much for me to give up.

This is a silly question since these two players are not even in considered in the offer from the article on ESPN.com.
You can't place that much faith in some speculative espn.com article. I'd be astonished if the deal could be pulled off with neither Frye nor Curry involved.

It wouldn't take only expiring contracts. They wouldn't be able to attract any free agents to that team without Garnett. Would you want to play there w/o him? It would take some of our young guys as well. I don't think it's worth it. We'd have to give up too much, and it wouldn't even guarantee a championship. It's just like when the Yankees traded for A-Rod except they could afford it. We can't. How about we just build a real all around basketball team and enjoy what our youth can bring and show some patience for once in our lives.

this is ridiculous. KG is gonna be a salary dump if he gets moved. Hence you give them expiring contracts and take back Wally.
We're probably not the only team in the league that would do that deal. We have to give them a reason to do the trade with *us*
You'd be surprised at how few teams will take on KG and Wally. That being said, if one of them wants to invest their young talent and expiring contracts, good luck to them, but it better not be the Knicks.

I agree, really you would think we were talking about a guy who has won a ring or at least appeared in the finals. The truth is Garnett could not get his team past Dirks team, twice I think and on both occasions he was outplayed by dirk actually one time dirk punked him the whole series. Garnett is a great player, probably a better fantasy league player than real life player, but he is not leading the wolves and damn sure not the knicks to a championship. Not if we make a trade giving away all of our young assets to get him...

You guys are insane. If you can get a real franchise player like KG for just Curry and Frye you do whatever you can to get them to agree to that trade and run to the NBA offices to have it approved before they have a chance to change their minds.

Neither Curry nor Frye have the upside to become anywhere near the dominant player that KG is. Curry is always out of shape, has health problems, doesn't play defense and doesn't rebound. Frye is a poor man's SAR. And you think that's too much for a top 3 player? Stop overrating your own players for just a little while.

With KG the Knicks are a viable contender for the next 3-5 years. You can't even come close to saying that about the group of players we currently have.

Dirks teams consisted of Nash, Finley and co. far better players than sam mitchell and co and one year with an old cassell and spree

I find myself agreeing with islesfan. I really like Frye. Curry could be a force, but right now he is mostly a point blank offensive player. KG is an MVP, a Hall of Famer, and he is smack in the middle of his prime. In fact he is entering his "mature prime". It is tough but I would roll the dice and do it.

Now if Sczerbiak comes back with Garnett, it becomes a no-brainer. IMO, Sczerbiak is a much better player than he generally gets credit for on this board.

Then the lineup would be:

Marbury
Crawford/Q
Sczerbiak
David Lee or whoever...
Garnett

That is far superior lineup to what we have now.

Youth does not equal a good team or future championships. Championships are won by dominant players with a solid cast, or on the rare occasion incredibly well balanced teams. If you have a chance to get a Garnett or a Nowitzki type, you do it unless you have to give up a player who appears to be MVP material. Neither Curry nor Frye are.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

What is the marginal advantage of getting a 20 and 10 player who is passing his prime at the cost of 2 possible 20 and 10 players who haven't even approached their primes. There is no advantage. Making deals like that are short sighted and stupid. A basket or rebound isn't better because KG or anyone else scored it. It doesn't count for any more. That's a ton of young production going West for a lesser amount of aging and achey production on a max deal.

If you insist on throwing in "young talent" to go along with expiring contracts, throw in Ariza, not the young bigs.

If Minn wants to trade KG and get out of the Wally contract they are not going to get top top talent in return. I said before that he is not Shaq and I say it again. He is very good but hasn't shown he can carry a team on his back to trophyland. If they want the expiring contracts of Penny and AD-they can have it along with a potentially good young player like Lee or Ariza or Nate for window dressing.

So would you be an Isiah supporter if he pulled off a trade of AD/Penny/Curry/Frye for KG/Wally? This is entirely hypothetical. Even if you think there's a 0% chance of it happening, I'm curious if you would support Isiah after this hypothetical move.

I'd assume Minn would greatly prefer Frye over Curry because of contract issues. Are you really gonna let Frye be the deal breaker when we have a chance to have Larry Brown coach Marbury, Wally, Curry, and KG (and keep Nate, Ariza, and Lee if it's a AD/Penny/Frye for KG/Wally trade)?

Another lopsided poll. I'm loving UK more and more.

Curry got the ball in the blocks and jumped what seemed to be above the rim and jammed it home...I was like...holy ****, this kid is going to be AWESOME!!!!

And to top it off, we balance him off with Frye.

LJ and Mourning beyotches. LJ and Mourning.

The dynamic duo will lead us to the playoffs this year and with LB's guidance, expose the heat in the second round.

We don't know if Curry will EVER be able to stay on the court long enough to play like a 20ppg scorer. we do know that Garnett is a an absolute stud, who carries his team into the playoffs every single season that he plays. He's a force scoring the ball, rebounding the ball, passing the ball and defensively. Garnett is in his prime and is going to be in his prime for 3 more years. YOU DO NOT PASS THAT UP.

Garnett has carried his team's just as far as marbury. (with the exception of the career spree/casell year) and last year, back to number 8 (with spree/cassell).

He peaked that year...he puts up 20/10 now because he's the only player left on the team.

Let me rephrase the statement from phillinla:
What is the marginal advantage of getting a 20 and 10 player who is passing his prime at the cost of 2 possible 20 and 7.5 players who haven't even approached their primes.

OR...

Why trade in 40/15, and 10 fouls per game, with tremendous upside and just starting out for one 20/10 guy, 5 fouls per game on the way down.

I'm sick of building for now, unless they want peanuts and expiring contracts.

no more mortgaging our future.

If Islesfan is for it, you know it won't benefit the knicks. I think the poll results speak for themselves.

this i agree with as frye also has a mean streak in him.

if isiah could get KG without giving up frye or curry, he could be executive of the millenium.

There's no way Minnesota would ever take Curry. He makes too much money and you guys might remember this controversy about Curry's heart issues. Minnie would want Frye. If the Knicks really have faith in Marbury they'll make the trade.

Personally, I'd rather build around Frye and the other young'uns.

A squad of KG, Marbury and Curry would not win a championship. Sorry. It's not happening. You still have no one to make big shots in the clutch. KG has never been able to make big shots in the clutch, the year Minnesota was excellent, it was all Cassell and Spree making the big shots. When Cassell got injured, Minnie went down in flames to an inferior Lakers squad. KG is not a championship in and of himself, as he proved last year and this year in Minnesota. He never made it out of the first round before Cassell or after. Mortgaging the farm for KG would be a mistake.
