kg will cost frye or curry or BOTH. at this point in time, i would not trade either of them in a deal for KG.

frye/curry could give us a frontcourt combo for 10 years.
KG could give us a legit shot for 3 years. we have no picks to restock our talent base in the meantime.

this would not be a good trade for us long term.

Like I said I think Channing Frye would be a goner as well. But listen, we are talkin about KG here. At 29 w/ a bad Knee.. he is still arguably the best skilled big man in the NBA, next to Tim Duncan. To answer Caseload's question "Is KG the missing piece that the Knicks need to get to the top?"

Absolutely, He is a bonafide superstar.. NYK market has craved for this! But don't get it twisted, he needs this trade as much as we want it. This gives KG an opportunity to WIN, Flat out. He'll play for a coach and get his torybook ending. I can't say if it happens this yr, and yes Isiah would have sacrificed much of our future.. ie; past NYK GM's, But this here is a no brainer.

Successful Scenario
Due to New York and Minnesota being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York and Minnesota had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

If the Knicks have a chance to get KG, I'm all for it. Frye has been really nice so far and so has Curry but if he we have to part with one of them; which we likely will... then I'm for it. KG is a once in a lifetime player and has 6 years of being the player he is left in him. The Knicks could conceivebly win 2 times in those 6 years if KG is teaming with Marbury and Frye OR Curry; whoever isnt traded.

KG is available? You make the deal.....The Knicks got good pieces to fill in the blancks.....Frye has to stay along with Lee, Craw and Marbs.....anyone else is fair game.

McHale knows he wants to make this deal.....KG wants out and his team is screwed for the next few years.....they are looking to build but have no plan.....25 mill cap space next year gets you a plan.....

No freakin Brainer. Frye would eat off his jumper all day with Curry and KG inside.

This is likely the trade:

Antonio Davis, Penny Hardaway, Trevor Ariza, Channing Frye, Nate Robinson and a future protected 1st rd pick for Kevin Garnett and Wally Szczerbiak

MaRbUrYiSaKnIcK--

You are right, we'd certainly be deal'n away the farm. But you know what, judging by past NYK history.. and Larry Brown's tolerance for this lineup; and pretty much the fact that he only gives the rookies burn because our vets ain't really "playing the right way". I can see him pushing for this trade and Isiah and Dolan signing off on this deal. Minnesota probably wouldn't trade KG if Channing and cap space were'nt included.

Bottomline, is although you are absolutely correct in Isiah's ability to draft talent, you don't pass up the opportunity to get a legitimate superstar, even if at the expense of 1st rd selections or high draft picks (Unless it's a hit and miss talent). We need a superstar, Thats basically what Isiah was saying last week. When the News Reporters were blasting the team.. and LB was like we are structurally flawed-- Zeke agreed! Expect more changes, and none would be any bigger from a PR standpoint than getting KG in the NY market. Not to mention we might have a winning team to boot. I'd trade the young ones in a minute for KG.

The key is to keep Curry out of talks!!!

Nets would offer Kristic and Jefferson I bet

I would trade thew two expiring deals, ariza, butler, and nate robinson, and a number 1 you need to make the deal fair and doable......If we bring these two in we need to clear players.....

Curry/Frye
Garnett/Lee
Wally/
Q
Marbury/Crawford

I saw do it, you have the chance to get Shaq you do it.....Fuck the future we haven't won a championship in 36 years its not good enough.........Thats a great rotation, curry with play 25 minutes frye with get 25 minutes KG 36 minutes, lee 15 minutes, steph and craw 30 minutes, wally keep a leash on him but, shooters, penetrators and big man that can space the court

Get it done

Since when is KG's knee shot? Has he missed a significant amount of games? He is only 30, thats 5 more years of top level performance from a big man. Ewing had some great years from 30 to 35.

If you can field a team of Garnett, Curry, Zerbs, Craw and Marbury with Larry Brown as the coach, how is this not a title shot every year?

Marbury and Garnett alone coached by Brown should be enough. I'd prolly just surround them with a bunch of defensive minded players rather then Craw, Zerbs and Curry, so more trades would need to happen.

This sounds more like a deal that will happen next offseason if the Wolves fail to make the playoffs this year.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Trading Deadline but I don't want to trade any of our people except Hardaway and Malik Rose.

why would it happen at the trading deadline? What possible benefit would that be of to the Wolves? They would lose out on huge amounts of revenue for the rest of the year.

These rumors are going to happen ALL YEAR LONG!
you guys better not get so juiced up everytime it happens.

We may get KG, but not till the summer.

We don't have a pick flat out to give them for 3 years, unless they want SA's. We give the bulls our this year, and next the bulls have the right to flip.

I would cry, but can live with Frye and Reezy or Lee plus exprireing contracts.

Minny does not fleece anyone.

WE need a Curry stays no doubt.

Correct me if i'm wrong; but if any deals were to happen, it would likely happen by all star break. At season's end, Penny and AD' would be free agents, and that would require a sign and trade scenario.. because technically NY wouldn't own there rights. Truthfully, how does it benefit Minny to make that trade then... It doesn't! So you can expect, that if Minny is trash by All Star break... they will throw in the towel on KG if that's their intentions and alleviating the salary cap is there primary concerns. If they want Talent for Talent match, then they wait until season's end. But face it, there is no equal value for KG, just grab the best deal available.. and that NY deal (I through out there) would probably be it. Although, I'd hate to see Channing go.
