Yes let's evaluate a kid who is still 25 years old 9 games into the season when he is struggling to recover from his various ailments. In addition, let's ignore the fact that he averaged 15/6 on one of the best teams in the league last year. Or, if you don't care about the wins, he averaged over 17/6 when he was all of 23. In my opinion a $7 million a year investment is pretty fair for that. For all of the immature moves he makes in the game and his tendency to shoot bad shots, it's hard to see him remaining the same when he's 30. KT would have undoubtably taken away minutes from frye + lee, are you kidding me? You don't play 35-40 minutes at PF/C and not take away from a PF/C and PF/SF's minutes. It doesn't matter if the minutes not being taken by the rooks are being given to garbage such as rose, etc - this is all about the future. Was KT going to help us win a championship? I think not. I don't even believe he was going to get us deep in the playoffs. Channing Frye does everything he did on offense, now - popping the midrange jumper apparently isn't that hard. In addition, frye does even more in terms of playing inside. I'd rather see someone who can manage to score 20 points in the nba his rookie year (KT didn't have many 20+ point games his past few years as a fulltime starter, I don't believe) and plays rookie-like D than someone who is an aging, whiny P.O.S. who can only go downhill. I'd like to stick with the youth plan for once.
