Trash? Wow. Kobe scored all those points by jacking up 36 shots at a 41.6% clip. 36 shots to score 42! Kobe was also getting a lot of superstar treatment from the refs. Look at how he created seperation against his defender. He either pushed off or did the wrap around.

Ariza will be fine.

You are talking about Ariza being young and having no skill set. Brown is playing Lee at a position he hasnt played in his life at the three and the kid gets a double-double. HAve you ever thought what Lee will be like at the three once he plays it more than 2 games his entire life?

Truth. If Lee can get a consistant midrange, watch-the-freak out. D-A-N-G-E-R-O-U-S. Litearlly, it'll be the difference between bench role player and starter with HUGE upside.

Ariza is 20 years old and was a 2nd round pick. The fact that he's come this far in such a short time is VERY impressive. If he stays on this learning curve for 2-3 more years we will have an excellent player.

Right now there is some inconsitency in his game, but his shot is looking much better, and he still completely changes the complexion of games he's in with his ability get steals, start breaks etc.

WOW VDesai...your eyesight must not be that good if you say he has come this far in a short time. He looks like the same player from the previous year.

My eyesight is fine...so is my ability judge a player based on more than the last 2 games. If you consider where he's come from as a Freshman at UCLA till now...yes its very impressive.

i'm a big-time reezy supporter so i have my biases about evaluating his talent and future. but i certainly would say that what we saw last night might easily have been (i emphasize might so tom doesn't make me come up with stats to back it ) nervousness and overreaction to playing before his home crowd, coming up with 28 tickets for family and friends, being put in the starting lineup, "kobe-stopper" hype, etc. he had a horrible game. the game before he was sensational. frye just had a grat game after a horrible one. this stuff happens.

and yes knight, i know that trevor's great game came against the lowly utah nbdl jazz and won't be counted by some.

think i've been a little too involved with ultimateknicks lately if i'm anticipating the comebacks to all my points already??

yes and i'm being honest. i don't always manage to enjoy a loss but this one i did. someone else posted that the 2nd quarter was worth anything that happened afterward and i felt similarly. i was so stoked watching that and seeing the future of the new york knicks laid out gloriously in front of me that i ended the game with a high.

so honestly, how did you feel about it?

The thing about this, and i laugh at those who call him trash, (just ridiculous) is that with a summer or two, he could develop a jumper and a handle

Thats the whole thing TKF. He already had a summer or two to improve on his game and the only thing different I noticed about Ariza are the new tattoos he sporting. Not a new jumper or handles.

last summer he was 19 adjusting to the league, but I can see improvement in the fact that he became a better rebounder and a stronger defender, baby steps man, baby steps...

yes, but he was a decent defender and rebounder last year. why improve only on something you already have. he should have at least added a little handles as well.

Marv, hedge your bets and say may have enjoyed the game and you maybe are honest about it. Tom may pull stats on you.

When Ariza starts to blossom later this year, I hope everyone who is trashing him now remembers their words. Maybe ot'll make the Crow taste better!

GIVE TREVOR ARIZA time! Some posters rant about him one minute, and the next game, all of a sudden he can't play, jkust because he had a sub-par game where he was occasionally having to defend Kobe bryant?

The words "fickle" and "fan" shouldn't be used in the same sentence, let alone together!!
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Same sh-t, different day. We already knew our young players are pretty good and we can't count on our outside shooting or Marbury. The threads will become even more redundant as the season goes along unless changes are made.

Ariza was pressing last night that much was obvious. A couple of times when he saw he was getting subbed he started swearing. I don't see him having that many games like that in the future. I do see his flaws like his inability to handle the ball, but that will improve. He went up against a determined Kobe Bryant last night and that is hell on any player in the league.

I agree with you 100% booman. You start your first game of the season, and what's your assignment, stop Kobe Bryant who is averaging 30 ppg?? Hmmm, maybe you guys feel differently, but in my eyes, that's already a recipe for disaster. But one thing, Kobe was hitting some shots that if Jamal or Steph or CHanning took, would be pulled out soooooooo fast. He was taking very bad shots and hitting them. I can't really get on Ariza's case for his defense last night. He gave it his best. There just wasn't a solution for Kobe.

On the other hand, I would have at least preferred that Marbury or Quentin guarded Kobe, b/c Marbury has played great against big guards, most notably, Jason Richardson and Quentin has been doing solid all season long.

On an off topic note, if we win tommorrow, we'll be 3-3 on the road trip. That would be a big success in my eyes. Sorry, that just popped into my head.

How dare you let a thought pop into your head without creating a totally new topic for it. What kind of ultimatekicks poster are you?
