The Wolves got Sprewell in return for Terrel Brandon's expiring contract. That was instrumental in getting KG an MVP trophy and the team to the conference finals. In the long-run they would have been better off getting a younger player without the attitude issues even if the player were less talented. But they still got outstanding accomplishments out of the trade of an injured, retired player with an expiring contract
