Darius Miles is hardly a need.

He's not a "Mr. Intangibles", and he's not a "Kobe"

If we're keeping Marbury, we need a Josh Howard or Shane Battier type.

If we're intent on trading him, we need a Kobe. Paul Pierce is probly the only thing close to Kobe that might be available in the future...

i think lee and ariza are going to be our battier and howard types.

i agree with you on miles. he's still an unappealing hi-stats lo-winning player imo.

the more i watch him, the more i think dmiles doesn't fit with us. he's a volume scorer. he's great defensively, but he would really be another souped up version of ariza here since dmiles' jumper is not really up to par. and since we have trev, then we don't need redundancy.

^ exactly.

Miles is another "quick fix". One that you regret later on...

I still think inevitably you gotta give up on having the best defense in the league (let's face it, not gonna happen), and we're gonna have to have the best Center in league (CHECK!), and a Top 5/10 wingman (Marbury doesn't quite make the cut, especially when you consider he's not a go-to-guy).

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

i would actually like our next player to be one that went to college. we need more fundamental and smart bball players on our team. battier definitely fits the mold but is probably unavailable.

Isiah needs to hire an assistant gm to handle all transactions because, when a move makes no sense on the surface, and when your big free agent signing has a dissaproval rating of 95% before the deal its probably a good indicator not to make one

On December 15th we should attempt this.

Outgoing
Maurice Taylor
6-9 PF from Michigan
7.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 23.8 minutes
Malik Rose
6-7 PF from Drexel
8.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 0.7 apg in 23.6 minutes
Jerome James
7-1 C from Florida A&M
4.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.2 apg in 16.7 minutes

Incoming
Steve Blake
6-3 PG from Maryland
4.3 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.6 apg in 14.7 minutes
Ruben Patterson
6-5 SF from Cincinnati
11.6 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.0 apg in 28.0 minutes
Theo Ratliff
6-10 C from Wyoming
4.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.5 apg in 27.5 minutes
Change in team outlook: -0.3 ppg, -0.9 rpg, and +1.8 apg.

We get a third Center/PF in Ratliff who wont complain about sitting and may still have something left to contribute. Even though his contract is a monstrosity. We get a Third PG who can play behind Marbury and Nate. And we get a tough defending although problematic small forward.

Although, I dont know if this is a good idea.

Its a suggestion Bobs, and completely rational. And in no way stupid. Just thinking of how to rid ourselves of Jerome James b4 he balloons to 400 lbs.

It's completely IRrational.

If you think Portland doesn't sniff at your offer and smell sh!t, you think too highly of yourself...

Ok lets break it down. Ruben Patterson for Malik Rose is being discussed. Now you have an aweful contract in T Ratliff that most teams have no interest in. Same goes for Jerome James. Maybe Portlannd doesnt want to take on Mo Taylor either, but it makes sense for Ratliff.

I think both teams get crap so its what type of crap gets thrown best. And I dont think Im the one with the problem of thinking too highly of myself Bobs.

Jerome is VERY comparable to Charlie Ward in that he is a starter on a VERY bad team and a reserve on a decent one.
I would usually think that description of Jerome is accurate except that he started on a 50 win team last year.

Bill Wennington, and Nesterovich also started on 50 win teams

Bill Wennington gets an automatic bye from this discussion due to his contributions to one of the most exciting college teams ever.

I'd rather keep both inactive then to bring in more problem children. We need to slowly move the lineage of overpaid old guys off the roster.

Besides, at some point, James might help (albeit limitedly).
