I was against the pick. I'm enjoying knowing that I was wrong. Whatever anyone says about Isaiah, he's usually excellent on draft day.

I think Frye will be a hell of a player. I'm not worried about him. He doesnt have Bynum's upside, but who knows if its ever realized. Thats the gamble isnt it?

I think alot of Bynum's upside is based on his sheer size. Alot like Shaq and Curry. If I were LA I'd be worried that (other than Jabbar, who may or may not be a good coach) he is gong to learn by watching Chris Mihm, and he is spending his developing time on a team with KB8.

I was wrong about Frye he is going to be a player in this league and is the perfect big man to play with Marbury once the kid gets a little more selfish watch out. He is only going to get better and if Larry learns how to coach and actually use to kid more he could really make a run at rookie of the year......

Butler will be nice backup center off the bench next season as well, too bad Big game is taking up space.....

Now lets get Lee into the game Larry

How's the Frye/Diogu comparison looking? I think Diogu's hurt; maybe there's a very tiny chance he'd play as well as Frye if he were healthy, but I'm very glad we drafted Frye instead following a poster's advice of adding another 6'8" PF

HEY what do you expect??? Frye spent 4 yrs at a great institution under a lengendary college coach in Lute Olson.. His b-ball skills level is very high and he's maturing @ a quick pace in terms of understanding the way the game should be played..

these posts are inevitable and cant be answered for 3-4 years. Id like to see one poster who said Channing frye was a lottery pick before me---go ot it, because you wont find anyone. What Channing showed las night is exactly what i thought he was, a superior offensive skill player for 6-11+ a guy who deserves to play 35 minutes. I ultimately believe Bynum will be putting up numbers very similar to what Marcus Camby is doing right now 16-17 pts 13-14 rebounds 4 blocks, a guy who will be able to help control games by closing off the opponents offensive lane with his sheer size length and athletic ability. They're quite opposite. It's not like we got the boobie prize here, Channing Frye is a really good player and can do a lot of things NOW which is a prime directive of the NY Knicks.

You realize this is a 180 degree turn from your views over the offseason when you called Frye a bust after a few summer league games and called him soft because he had low rebounding #s by your standards in college, right? There's nothing wrong with changing your opinion after it's looks deadwrong. We all make mistakes. We're not experts. We're just fans who type on message boards.

I hate to break it down to you, but Frye was an underacheiver for 3 1/2 yrs in college. The label soft came from his inability to rebound the ball and the fact that he was constantly pushed off the block by stronger players. You wouldnt know that because the first time you even heard the word Channing frye was here on this forum. I believe I was peod off at the game channing picked up 8 fouls in like 6 minutes in a SL game and said something negative adn I surelu lobbied to get Bynum, but the reality is I argued with people who do the DRAFT sites who had Channing and Rashad Mccants as 2nd round pick when I felt they were both lottery picks. I saw Channing frye play 5 years ago when he was 200 pounds of skin and bones. I probably have seen him play more than 98% of the people here. People who handt seen him play in college understand where he got labeled soft. I actually haev a post here outlined how hard Channing Frye came on during his second half of the year. Its a dumb argument

INteresting thread!

Take the crow and put it in the Freezer.

Quite simply, the lakes drafted for a need different for ours.

IN a few years, Bynum might be a more valuabue commodity. WE don't have time to cultivate high school players with a pick so high.

Different teams, different needs.

So were you right or dead wrong when declaring frye a bust, Briggs? How about when talking non-stop about how soft he was before seeing him play an NBA game? Have you ever been wrong in anything basketball-related in your life?

There's nothing wrong with making mistakes. We're fans; not experts. I've made poor predictions from time to time. It rubs many people the wrong way when a few posters here pretend to be several levels above the rest of us and to never be wrong.

Frye may yet turn into a bust. :) There are plenty of one-year rookie wonders who never get better, especially at the big man positions.

Frye is currently averaging 10.4ppg/6.2rpg in 19.2mpg. In his rookie season, Sweetney average 4.3ppg/3.4rpg in 11.8mpg. Stretched to 40mpg, their numbers aren't all that different. The sample size is very small, so it's tough to draw conclusions based on stats alone.

However... what we see on the court is a different story--- Frye is active, quick and athletic, confident. He looks like he belongs on the floor.

Bynum might be great... but strategy-wise, the Knicks probably would have made a lot of different moves had they drafted him.

As it stands, things really worked out for the Knicks from a talent standpoint.

from last march--certainly no one is perfect, but last year I argued with the guys who wrote the draft site draftcity when they had mccants frye and Simien in the 2nd round--i argued they were all top 20 players[and im sure the nets regret not taking simien 15]

I have other posts where i called Frye lottery talent, but looking back I was focused on 3 guys Josh Mcroberts, Bogut and Bynum and I would still pick any of the 3 before Frye. I could be wrong, but it would be a foul ball not a strike. of course, in 7,500 posts, you don't really have any real prognostications or original content, rather you seem to just post like a leech, just kind of scking off others material
