Rules for trading All-Star talent:

1.) Total Cap Space

OR

2.) Equal/Upgraded Talent

As far as Mo Pete goes.....

He's a good defender and can hit the 3, 2 things we need at SF, but he's not much of an intangibles guy and needs the ball to be effective.

Probly end up passing. Short term fix to longterm problem IMO>
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

the only way this could work in ny is if steph plays the SG. we saw more of that last night. let's see that role expand and then re-evaluate 20 games down the road.

If Marbury can consistently play the SG position like he did today, great. But we need a PG who can make plays and defend.
Exactly; if we move Marbury to SG, we need to go out and get a competent PG. If we keep Marbury at PG, we need to go out and get an SG who can shoot dependably. We're very weak at whatever backcourt position Marbury doesn't play.

I'm pretty confident that Crawford will become very solid at the point. He's been showing progress.
I've seen little in Jamal's 5+ NBA seasons to share your confidence

I would do this

Stephon Marbury to Toronto

Jose Calderon
Jalen Rose
2007 #1 protected to 5 or unprotected in 2008
2006 2nd round pick

I don't think either team would do that

I don't wanna trade Steph within the division....if at all.

Christ.

who cares, i only care about the long term best interests of the knicks, and imho, that does not include starbury

trade him to toronto--he'll creat a buzz like he did here, he 'll help them a great deal, but who cares. That knocks 40 mm on the back end of his contract, gives us a 23 YO 6-3 210 pd experienced pass first PG who can shoot and an extra pick sometime in the future with a high 2 this year:>)

Man, I'd do that in a heartbeat. It saves $$$$$ and gives us huge cap flexibility in 2 yrs which we really need considering our flawed roster makeup. Plus, Calderon is for real. If added to this team, he'd be the best PG. I doubt Toronto would do it though. That's why I included Ukic in my trade idea.

BUT i do agree with others that we should wait and see what happens. If by Feb we still are playing the kind of ball games we're playing, Isiah needs to make a serious move.
