A trade of JJ and Taylor for Mihm and Odom would work, but it couldn't happen until after Dec. 15th since JJ was recently signed over the summer.

L.A. Lakers Trade Breakdown
Outgoing

Lamar Odom
6-10 PF from Rhode Island
15.2 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 3.7 apg in 36.3 minutes

Chris Mihm
7-0 C from Texas
9.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 24.9 minutes
Incoming

Maurice Taylor
6-9 PF from Michigan
7.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 23.8 minutes

Jerome James
7-1 C from Florida A&M
4.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.2 apg in 16.7 minutes
Change in team outlook: -12.3 ppg, -9.6 rpg, and -2.8 apg.
New York Trade Breakdown
Outgoing

Maurice Taylor
6-9 PF from Michigan
7.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 23.8 minutes

Jerome James
7-1 C from Florida A&M
4.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.2 apg in 16.7 minutes
Incoming

Lamar Odom
6-10 PF from Rhode Island
15.2 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 3.7 apg in 36.3 minutes

Chris Mihm
7-0 C from Texas
9.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 24.9 minutes
Change in team outlook: +12.3 ppg, +9.6 rpg, and +2.8 apg.
Successful Scenario
Due to L.A. Lakers and New York being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. L.A. Lakers and New York had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Trade ID
Every trade made by fans is allocated a unique Trade ID which you can share with friends and fellow basketball fans to allow them to see your trade scenario. The Trade ID for this scenario is 2614659.

Lamar odom for what? how about lamar odom for frye and marbury, thats the kind of real cost it would take

mo taylor was benched and put on IR in Houston and nate was a 21 pick for an all star 25 YO 6-10 F?

well how about malik rose and David Lee for Jason richardson--see sounds dumb

Once again stay off the crack. Frye and Marbury for Odom? HELL F.UCKING NO!!! That **** sounds stupid as hell.

im just being realistic about cost of transaction. lamar is better than marbury and im sure they would want MORE, as in Frye

saying mo taylor and nate, i mean we got mo taylor for gin baker and a 2nd round pick. not that mo taylor's stinks, but hes no where near the class of odom

I still think we should just sit on everyone we have until the deadline and if an SF is what we need, we go at melo HARD.

I'm talking, give up the farm...but ofcourse, keep marbs...however...don't get me wrong, I'd be willing to give marbs up for melo (CUSE!!!)

but at this point, I really like this squad...the next trade should put us in the finals, not keep the team the same (i.e. marbs for odom)
all kool aid all the time.

I strongly disagree that Odom is better than Marbury. Odom has not been as productive or as consistant as Marbury throughout his career. As a 6-10 guy he can do more things, but for you blanketly say he is BETTER than MArbury, no way. On what do you base this? His ability to win or make players better? His dominance on the court? Defense? In what way is he better?

Marbs and FRYE? for Odom? LOL!!!! Talk about over rating other peoples players. Maybe my trade wouldn't get him, but your trade is highway robbery.

Odom has a history of being an underachiever throughout his career. He should be a star and is not. He is a mediocre 3 point shooter, a versatile scorer, good handle, solid passer whose Assist to turnover ratio is horrible, and is not a good defender. He averaged 15 ppg last year on a lottery team where he was the 2nd option. NO WAY is he better than Marbury. He has had one truly good season in his career.

I'd offer Trevor (who Jackson likes), Nate and either MoT or Rose. If that's not enough, I'd throw in the Spurs first round pick that we got in the Rose trade. I don't think the Lakers will bite, but if they did it would be a huge upgrade at small forward. It would help our offense and rebounding significantly.

[quote] Hey Jerky, I don't know if you noticed, but we have a WAAAAAY different roster than last year, Orlando doesn't.

Things are gettin a bit personal now. Martin should lock this badboy just for the principle.

And Killa....what I mean was that only special playes have a REAL effect by entering/leaving teams. Guys like Magic, Bird, Hakeem, etc. When they show up, you see a HUGE improvement in wins....and when they retire or get traded....you see a HUGE drop.

Marbury and Francis are the type of guys where it actually wouldn't surprise me if the team slightly improved by trading him if it meant rounding out the roster a bit.

That said...

I realize Marbury is our most EFFICIENT PG....but he's not necessarily our best. I still think Crawford has the POTENTIAL to be a solid point, but I guess we're already seeing his mentality of "gimme, gimme" getting in the way.

And Odom's still untouchable....end of discussion.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Yeah, Briggs is right. Odom is the point foward in that triangle offense, and the offense is running through him ALMOST as much as Kobe, and he doesn't even need to score a ton on that team. He's one of the few guys I'd trade Marbury for. He's that good.

despite the fact that odom is untouchable, here's what it would realistically take:

Crawford, Frye, Mo

for

Odom + Filler

I can't give up Frye. Our untouchables, in my mind, are Steph, Curry and Frye. everyone else is expendable.

A team who won 30 wins the previous season has no untouchables.

I don't want Odom really. I find him to be an "empty stats" guy.

Hey, I'm just having fun with you, stop being so soft. You're the guy who likes to call people idiots, why so touchy over a relatively benign word like 'jerky'. Is that really a big deal? If it is, I'm sorry. Ok, jerky? Nah I'm just playing. Lighten up man.

BTW, stop calling Martin to lock threads, do I need to buy you a stop snitching shirt or something?

Mo Taylor + Nate the Great

for

L. Odom

Yes we would have given up our budding young backup PG, and Mo Taylor who contrary to popular opiniion is a solid player,

we are super weak at SF and L. Odom could definitely be the answer. A shooter, ball handler, rebounder and passer.

This probably wouldn't happen but how do guys feel about Odom in general.

Let's see now... you want to turn two guys who aren't even starter quality into Lamar Odom. Wow, where do I sign up?

Let's get real. This would be a TERRIBLE trade for LA. They'd never do it. Odom was the major piece in a deal for Shaq. So, you want Odom... better offer something actually enticing.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Haha.

It's funny you say that b/c I'm usually the one causing "controversy" on K4L and months ago on here.

You could call me a 3-assed-pasty monkey boy and I could seriously give 4 f!cks.

All I meant was that the discussion was going dead...

Trust me - I'm the polar OPPOSITE of a snitch.

Anyway, the truth is that we are weak on SF and we need an upgrade soon. Maybe we just have to let Ariza handle it for a while, even if he isn't completely ready right now. He may not have a jumpshot but on the court he always finds ways to score. Get him there along with Q and let Q be the shooter on the floor. Ariza will significantly improve our rebounding and D...

Let's just cut our losses and do Malik for Ruben Patterson straight up. No extras people, no extra picks just Malik and the Kobe usetobeStopper.

Doubt Portland would do that, seeing as how Malik has 2 years more than Ruben.

Aren't they saying they need some veteran leadership? I know we need at least one more small forward. Alright 2nd round pick and Malik
