Theo has been slowed by injuries in the past 2 years, but IF AD is gone, he would start at PF.

theo is a C and his production is down because he is aging and has a career full of injuries

he is no PF, look at PFs in the NBA, theo ratliff would be the worst in the league.

What?

the guy is like 6'10" and goes 240. He is a defensive minded PF for sure, and next to Curry he would compliment him well. He would also cover for the guards we have.

You have to be kidding me, it woyld be a joke. i think tyhey need to be careful if this is what they are thinking--they just paid a slow C 30mm and I bet they are hvaing doubts about it real quick, the last thing you want to be burnt on is an aging guy who's numbers are falling like a rock--pklay PF? you think he has the footspeed and quickness to play guys like dwight howard chris bosh jermaine oneal al harrington a jamison drew gooden etc????? no frikin way I like what we have now davis starting and Frye taking most of the other minutes with Mo Taylor in the mix

we have absolute ZERO ZERO need for ratliff

i would do malik for patterson i know patterson has ran his mouth and they want him out and thats a FAIR deal--if we use our ending contract on theo ratliff, were shooting our load way to quick--this is isiahs problem with vets not thinking these things out--thats why we play merry go round

hey if you think Theo is too slow at the PF, you gotta be real disappointed by a guy who is almost 5 YEARS OLDER ... AD. Let me know how much of Theo you have seen in the preseason.

I gotta think AD still may be part of the cut deal worked with CHI and with him gone maybe Larry wants Theo for 20 minutes and to start to set the defensive tone with Curry goofing around while he gets into shape.

Penny and Rose don't do anything for this team, so those 2 won't be missed. Theo adds a vet body.

AD is built like a PF, hes a brick house. Hes a tremendous physical specimen. Rtaliff has SCKED this summer and was AWFUL last year--he cant run--he has an arthritic hip.

if Portland would take James in the deal then why not?

I agree, I'd do it if they took JJ back but if they are trading Theo for whatever reason then they probably dont want another 30 year old center playing 15 minutes a game and about 5mill/Yr in return.

who plays defense to throw out there about 15 minutes a game which is the same exact role which would be given to Theo.

check out their preseason box scores. Theo has been consistently playing 22 to 27 minutes every single game. The guy just blocked 5 shots in 25 minutes a few games ago. He isnt in his prime but for Penny and Malik? Unless there is a better option....
And say God please No to Ruben. Funny, I thought he's heard that before.
agreed

come on guns, tell me what your plan would be. The salaries dont match on this Malik + Penny for Theo + Patterson. 2604510. There will be someone else comming to the city. Would you like Darius and Theo?

Patterson for Malik would be a waste. That would make just as big of a logjam at SF-- Q, Ariza, Barnes, Patterson. Could throw Penny and even Lee in there as well. Ruben doesn't bring much that Ariza or Barnes can't do just as / almost as well. So basically we'd be trading a high quality locker room leader kind of guy for a cancer who duplicates skills we already have, no thanks.

I know I'm not Guns, but I'll take a stab at it. I'll take your point about Theo in the preseason, he's putting up some pretty decent numbers, that 5 block game tends to make his preseason average jump a little bit. To me, I don't understand why the Knicks would go after him when they just brough JJ here but hey whatever. About Miles. I personally wouldn't sign off on any trade that he's involved in, yeah I know he's a nice talent and he took a couple strides last year with actually putting up some numbers but he's still known around the league as a severe under-achiever. I know Larry Brown has turned some guys around in his career but he already has to deal with Steph, Craw, Nate, JJ to work with, does he really need another headache in Miles? I like our SF situation right now anyway, Trevor has shown he can be a superb defensive player in this league and I really like him as our Starting 3 with Q and Lee also seeing minutes there so I'm not so sure I'd want Miles.

Theo has had a TERRIBLE pre-season--where do you get this stuf from--make it up from thin air? Portaldn just signed theo--why do you think they want him gone? because he was AWFUL last year and is WORSE this pre-season they cant win 4 blowouts the guy is making 12 large for maybe 2mm in production

just be patient with contracts dont run at the first guy available the team is good right now let it grow

actually I was being sarcastic about Miles. I had an argument with guns about Darius Miles. If I remember correctly, he wanted Miles on the Knicks at one point and then changed his mind. I dont want Miles either and I definately dont want Patterson but I think Theo will be good.

When we got JJ, we didnt know Curry would be a Knick. Now we dont know where Antonio will be. There is a good chance he wont be in a Knick uniform. I'm telling you nyk, Theo will be good for us if he is healthy. IF

Hey Briggs. Try reading my post from before, it clearly stated that I DO NOT want him on the Knicks. Now I know why I disagree with you so much, its nearly impossible to agree with you becuase of your attitude.

I would do anything to get Penny & Rose off this team. I don't know if the salaries match, I'll check tomorrow, right now I'm dead lol but hell yeah I'll take Miles & Ratliff! Miles really showed improvement as a score last season with his jumpshot improving. With Frye & JJ already here Ratliff isn't really needed but we would have great defensive frontcourt depth if someone goes down for significant time.

Problem with that is, come midseason, you'll be doing anything you can to get Ratliff off the team. Why create another headache from the current headaches that we already have. Penny will be off the team at the end of the year... let his contract run out or trade it for a good player, not for Theo Ratliff.

I think he was referring to the minutes he has played in preseason. Since everyone said he was old and would play less minutes, the only thing that can be used is his preseason mins played.

patterson is under-rated and a good two way player with a reasonable contract. hes MUCH better than malik IMHO--we did start matt barnes at SF I think patterson would be a better fit to start

if we had

Curry
Davis
Patterson
Q
Marbury

thats a tough frikin group--although q is coming off the bench--craw has earned his way back into starter imho.

I think that will only happen if he gets injured. If he isnt injured, I think he will be good.

I dont know man. I have a hard time imagining myself wanting a 6-11 mobile PF/C off my team. now 6-4 PFs like Rose different story lol and PFs who don't block shots and hang out on the perimeter like KT

I'll have to see him to see if he's still the player he used to be and he was one heck of a player, before I come to conclusions based on pre-season boxscores. I know I rather have him than Rose. Don't think I would give up Penny's expiring contract for someone who is always injured though. If he came with Miles then its a whole different story. Just the thought of what Larry Brown could do with Miles as our starting SF. The way he's capable of having 5block games! WOW!! and someone mentioned that Larry tried to get Miles before

Bottom line--Theo Ratliff =buying a used 1994 Mercedes 300E and when you get it home you notice it knocks. It was probably a nice ride in it s prime, but honey, you just got burned--you own it. theo ratliff is on his last legs, but is still owed 36mm$ over 3. i think there is more constructive things we can do for the future of the knicks franchise than get invovled with this player at this time.

I think your over-estimating Theo's mobility nowadays. In Theo's Philly days he was able to post double-digit PPG scoring years for a few years in a row even while playing with Allen Iverson, the reason he was able to do that was because he was cleaning up on the offensive boards but when you look at last year he averaged by far the lowest offensive rebound total in years because he has become very injury prone. The injuries have taken a toll on his mobility for sure and I don't want the Knicks to have to be the ones who are liable for his contract the next 3 years when who knows if he'll even be able to step onto the court.

I'd hold off on all the "what larry can do with this and that player talk" because we don't even know what he's done with Marbury and Crawford. How many guys on one roster can we expect him to "fix"?
