according to 82games.com NY was 33-25 when Jerome Williams got front-court minutes. Lee brings that same intensity and versatility to the front-court. Salmons doesn't.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

So we were 0-24 when he didn't get frontcourt minutes? I knew we should have played him more! (J/K: I think the 33-25 refers to whether the team had a favorable or unfavorable +/- differential while he was on vs off the floor, but I'm not certain.)

I would do the trade simply because I don't think we need Lee right now and we certainly need a SF.

Actually its the total opposite. where is salmons going to play? At sf we have richardson and ariza. At guard theres no room. I personally like what Lee adds to this team. Remember how good Lee looks now, then think how much better he will be going into year 2. Briggs, how about stopping the statement "all those picks for Lee" .It really is one 1st rnd pick next year in a WEAK draft. True we are taking a risk if we stink so bad in the next 2 yrs but with our depth I think its a good risk and certainly worth keeping Lee. I think he will be a very good player. A good analogy I heard Lee compared with was Bobby Jones. Hows Taft doing?

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

I'm not toally opposed to it, especially if he can shoot. I really only remember him slashing and penetrating. I have the game saved I'm gonna watch it again.

Other guys should pick up the intensity. That can be made up for. What can't be made up for is shooting. Either you're good at it or you're not unless you're red hot. Q can shoot the 3 but we have no pure all around shooters and as we all know, that's what winning teams need. Too bad Houston can't magically get healthy.

We can always pick up a shooter down the line. I haven't seen Salmons do anything that's so unique that we can't just get another player like him later on. But I think Lee does have a unique skill set that would be hard to replace.

If we're competing for a championship this year, then yeah I probably trade Lee for Salmons if it's on the table. But we're not, and we have to think about the future of this squad. Going forward, it's easier to get a guy like Salmons than a guy like Lee, so I say keep Lee.

Why do you say it's easier to pick up a Salmon. He can shoot and we need shooters and it seems like there are less and less shooters around.

Salmons hasn't done anything in 3 years.
When your a PG,SG,SF on Sixers you'll never get enough shots playing along side AI to do anything. Look at Igoudala. He looks great on offense when AI doesn't play. Then AI plays and jacks up 30+ shots.

Because it is, there are plenty of swingmen who can shoot the ball. How many big men are there who can handle the rock and make crafty passes?

Not saying we can just go pick a shooter off a tree, but give it a year or two and you can always find a shooter. PFs with Lee's handle and passing are exceedingly rare though. Divac, Miller, Odom, Webber (and only Odom out of that group really has a handle to go with the passing, not that Lee is at Odom's level...). Anyone else? They're rare and they're pretty valuable.

exactly, and lets just say this for arguments sake, If both salmons and lee are to be average NBA players, wouldn't it be better to have the guy who is 6'9 and athletic, than a guy who is 6'4? All things being equal?

I watched the game again this morning, and while Salmons had a great game, it had much more to do with Salmons exploiting our transition D.

We missed alot of shots in that game and failed to get down on D. Salmons ran down, and bumped into guys who weren't set up on D yet and scored and got and 1's. Thats really where 85% of his shots came from. He made one jumper on Steph from 15 feet out on the baseline (STeph D'ed him up pretty well too) and other times he blew by Crawford.

I hardly can tell if he is a shooter from that game, and I think he exploited our and Herb's weaknesses that game. I don't think he's anything that special to be honest.

Ohh sheesh, when on Earth did I say Salmons was great? In fact, I don't even know a lot about Salmons but based on that game, and on what Briggs has said, he could fill some needs, and we are also pretty set, for now, with our frontcourt, and it wouldn't KILL US if we traded Lee to get him. The other bigs can easily pick all that up. Besides, Frye, Butler and Curry are all better on offense anyway. Don't get me wrong, I love David Lee and all and think he's been real solid. How could anyone not? But it DEFINITELY seems that NY fans are overrating him a bit and maybe even underrating Channing Frye, who I felt has been equally as solid in the games I've seen. We need shooters on this team to spread that offense. Channing will help with that, but we need a guard out on the perimeter besides Q and Marbury who both aren't superb shooters.

Salmons got 20 points off of free throws. Won't get that type of love once season starts

Salmons won't touch the ball once the season starts. AI is there.

But I agree. Salmons is a nice big body, but I was far more impressed with Iggy.

NO, and I am not even saying that Salmons is the guy. But if there was a solid young shooter out there who shows other skills, would you trade Lee straight up for him?
