I don't give a rats ass if Marbs is Mother Teresa, the only reason we care is he is a basketball player and all this nice stuff is great, but all we ask of him is to be a great player and help us win games.

I expect these gazillionaires t be generous and help people and don't get me wrong, Im happy to read this, but lets not go way overboard cuz Marbs lent money to a team mate to buy an SUV!

And his endormsent deal is nice, got him a big discount on the suits and laid out 1g each, or 30 grand? Nice, but thats like $100 to most people when you earn what he does. Its a nice leadership thing to do, but just become the guard larry can make him and he'll own the city forever!

Nalod (Nets' fan)! I didn't expect for you say anything different on this subject...We all know that you have issues with Marb...You will say worst of things when he marches the Knicks deep in the playoffs.

Yes, it will also help when he encourages his teammates instead of glowering at them when they screw up on the court.

Excuse me? LJ was the perfect leader. His teammates had his back and they respected him. He also delivered. Oh do I miss Grand MaMa.

Kudos to Marbs and everything but don't all 1st-rounders make at least a million dollars? You can't buy yourself 10 suits when you make a million dollars????
When do their paychecks start? They've probably collected only a small percentage of their first annual salary so far.

Nalod your the first to call Marbury a DIVA when he does something negative. So give the guy his props when he does positive things. The fact that he did something he didn't have to do, and nobody would have carried that he didn't do, but decided to. Just the fact that he had his teammates in mind deserves credit.

I guess the point is supposed to be that there's another side to Marbury that's supposed to offset the negative opinions people have about him. The problem is that people's negative opinions, by and large, have to do with his basketball life and not his personality, his good deeds, or other non-basketball issues.

I think it's great that he's such a good person, and that he has compassion for those who are suffering. Ultimately I think that's more important than basketball.

But as long as we are talking basketball, and just basketball, Marbury's deficits are still fair game IMO. His good deeds off the court are really beside the point.

Marbury's fight with KT did not affect the way the played on the floor together. Marbury continued to use the pick and roll with KT none stop. But that wasn't dissmissed the way this is.

Katrina is an off the court issue. Buying your teammates suits, bonding with them, forming chemistry with them off the court, all fall under this category of buying them suits even though he didn't have to. Off the court chemistry doesn't allways equate to on the court chemistry. But its better than having no chemistry off the court.

Wow, I clicked this topic hoping to hear that Marbury was starting to do things like getting back on defense, learning how to play defense, learning how to run a team's offense instead of just looking to score himself until he had to pass or something that actually matters to us all on the basketball court. Oh well, matter some other time before his huge contract expires.

The funny thing is that the same people who are lauding him for being some kind of misunderstood great person, because he used his connections to get the rookies some suits, are the same people who killed Allan Houston for the last 2 years despite being as class an act as this town has ever seen. And why? Because he had the audacity to take the money that Dolan was throwing at him and to get hurt. Seriously, what's wrong with some of you people?
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

How DARE they be proud of their star player? How DARE they? I'm sure Allan Houston gave just as much money to the Katrina relief fund and we just didn't hear about it because Isiah buried the story!

You have every right to be outraged!

They actually covered this story on CNN Headline News. I suppose it's a nice story but I can't believe there are no more important things in the world for CNN to cover
