No, negative on you. I know full well what I'm talking about, thank you. You think I'd confuse 97 for 99? That's insulting, what the hell kind of fan do you think I am?

Yes, we had a very good season that year, but nonetheless the team still took a while to really gel-- if you remember early in the season, LJ and Houston were both a bit tentative and it took a while for them to really find their roles in the offense. The team just happened to be so good top to bottom on both ends of the court that it won 57 anyway. But clearly they were on another plane altogether by the time the playoffs came around.

Why do you have to get insulted man? lol. People take things so personally here.

I meant that as a good natured barb, but I guess it doesn't come across well without a smiley. Here you go:

Anyway, I guess a pet peeve of mine is people who jump to conclusions. It's frustrating that so much sports talk is dragged down by bad reasoning.

Yes we do. Marbury, Q, and AD.

Ad - Is a part-timer at this point in his career - played 28 min a game last year.
Q and Marbury - Both need to improve their defense and decision making. (Q led the league in 3 ptrs made but wasn't even in the top 50 in three pt. shooting %)

I remember that season very well Tom and remember being shocked by how much LJ who was a star and Houston struggled but they did gell in the playoffs and would've defeated the Heat if not for PJ F'N Brown! They also were toe to toe with the Bulls that year in the regular season. That was Ewing's best chance other than in 94 imo.

I don't think the 97 team took the whole season to gell. Remember they did split the season series with the Bulls. They did struggle the 1st month or two of the season though. I remember the PG contraversy since Ewing disliked Childs than Charlie became the starter. LJ struggled to be the low post player he was in Charlotte since the post belonged to Ewing so LJ had to learn to adjust and eventually became a very good 3pt shooter and effective scorer in the post when called upon. Houston struggled all season long and only broke out in the playoffs and following year. Houston struggled so much that Starks played in the 4th and won 6th man of the year. Houston was awful every time they played his old team Detroit too

Yup, Houston struggled like the next two seasons. I remembered going to the Palace was like an issue everytime. He was sensitive, Grant Hill and made it duty to try to out play Houston as often as possible. Detroit press referred to him soft, Mason taking jabs at the Knicks. Yeah it was bad in the beginning but that team had a terrific post all star break and was "jelling" near the season end. Then Charlie forgot that he was in the NBA (how often did we hear that joke). All those loveable Knicks you want to cheer them and when they do stupid things you want to kick them in the rear. This team will jell after the all-star break like the Pacers in 92-93. I think it really depends on Curry and Frye though. Frye at the 4 is now a no brainer. Last nite, I think he passed up too many shots that I am sure he is capable of hitting while Nate took too many shots that he had no business taking. Nate to me is the real odd man out. Alot of talent but it doesn't translate to team ball.

They might not jell this year. It might just take longer to do it RIGHT! We got rookies learning at a higher level and some stubborn men who got into some bad habits. The talent is evolving, but the chemistry, and team defense habits take time to come together. They will panic, falter, and fall apart at times.

This is rebuilding but because we did it in such a manner as we did, our expectations are a bit over done. YEsterday we read posts complaining that we were UNDERRATED. Not around here for sure.

There will be teams that will just pick us apart early on. Some times we can win based on our young athleticism. It will be a process.

You Gellin'?

You know I'm gellin'.

You are SOO gellin'.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Knicks will erupt like Mt. St. Helen,
My PC, oh it's Dellin',
Who knows I ain't tellin,
Someone please pass the melon,
while I go hit on Ellen,
unless TT is Ellen,
in which case I'll hit on Helen,
but not the Mt, so maybe I'll just go watch some Dave Chappellin.
