should mike breen be fired? i think this guy is the most horrendous peice of crap **** commentator i've ever had the misfortune of hearing.
should we fire mike breen?
should we force him to resign?

Breen is not the worst but he is still a jerk. I don't understand why he gets the respect he does from fans.

That whole thing with the comcast broadcast, lol....sorry you had to witness that but that's why the Knicks need Gus!!! Gus rides and dies for the Knicks. Breen didn't get that excited about the Ariza dunk. Gus would have been on the floor! Even though the Knicks were losing Gus would have been busting at the sides giving props to the kid with the Knick Jersey. Gus isn't bias with his praise but he gives a little extra for the orange and blue.

Gus is the best. Forget about Marv, he's gone. But Breen is OK too. I don't mind Clyde, he's OK for his own right. I just hate the announncers who only kiss arse to only to superstars like that "With no regard for human life!!!" announcer. I forget his name. Complimenting a player is great, but ignoring all 4 of the other guys on the team isn't great. Many announcers do that, but the reason I like the Knicks announcers is b/c they don't.They all seem to be fair and knowledgable, but Gus is still the man, as well as Andraise, for their enthusiasm. With that being said, I don't let announcers ruin the game for me. I tend to not pay attention to them, no matter how good or bad, if I'm really into the game.

fish, Breen is definitely NOT a homer. He tends to be very objective about judging ref calls for instance. He calls it like he sees it, even if he thinks the proper call should go against the Knicks or for the other team. And if the opposing team nails a big shot or has a guy on fire, Breen calls it with as much enthusiasm as he does if the same were happening for the Knicks. And I don't think he's a jerk at all either. Come on, if Mike Breen is a jerk, what are half the people on this board?

That said, I'm not that fond of him either. He's tapioca. He's boring. He's conservative and he doesn't really have a style. He's not exciting. It's really too bad Marv is gone, he was the don. No one comes close to Marv.

Bedtime what is your problem with Breen. It seems like you just don't like his personality on air. That doesn't mean your opinion is correct. Breen has national respect and thus he's used to do other broadcasts. He's a pro and I don't see anything in his delivery that would suggest he's as bad you make him out to be.

I sometimes get annoyed with his Ref's are always right deal, but he actually does correct that when the evidence suggests they made a mistake.

I like Gus a lot and wondered why he's never been given the TV job. Perhaps its because he's better than a guy like Breen on the radio. Gus has a fire and excitment to his voice that works great on radio.

MSG should put Mike Breen on the radio, and have Gus Johnson call the Knicks games on TV.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

If the Knicks ever fired Breen I think I'd like to see Bob Costas fly in for the play-by-play. When Marv Albert had his trouble for that year or 2, Costas filled in GREAT on NBC for Marv, I was surprised at how well he did the job. I like Gus Johnson alot but Costas has a knack for keeping people interested and he did a great job with the basketball on NBC and I wouldn't mind him doing the Knicks games. The Knicks need a BIG-TIME announcer especially now since they are now on their way back up the power-rankings of the NBA.

BILL WALTON IS MY FAVORITE!!! hes hilarious, I love his sarcasm, but sometimes he hates on certain players he doesn't like. I really like how he isn't afraid to go with the flow.

Actually Marv was my favorite, but Bill Walton is close behind. 2 totally different styles.

Gus has the perfect radio voice.

Breen's a bit too buttoned down for my taste, but he doesn't bug me too much.

Bill Walton can be obnoxious. At some point, back when they were showing the cames on NBC, he and a couple of other guys were yuking it up so much while I was trying to watch a game and I had to turn the sound off. It was just too distracting.

Clyde's my favorite. Not really sure why. I like Marv okay.

sorry Killa, i can't stand walton. your right he does hate on players he does'nt like...and that's about every knick. not to mention the fact that he overreacts on a constant basis. oh, and the way he talks does'nt help either.
the only thing i don't like about breen is his voice. kinda blan and uninterested even though he is. don't know maybe listening to marv for so long. to me he was the voice of the knicks. also like bob costas, i remember listening to him for a time broadcasting the playoffs. he has a very distinguishable voice, like marv.

I like Breen a lot actually, but I did prefer him on the radio. He describes the action very well and very quickly. There aren't a lot of commentators who give you a better or more accurate picture of the action. On TV, that trait isn't as necessary, as you can actually see what's going on. So in turn, you hear Breen harp on the officials or how bad stupid it was for that player to pick up a technical etc and its a bit more annoying. As someone who has called some bball on radio in the past (in college), Breen was a guy I looked up to as an example of what a broadcast should sound like.

I guess I am in the minority in that I actually like Breen. I guess it's just a matter of taste.
