I wouldn't rule out Houston staying with the organization for some sort of Knicks job. Unless of course if you're supersticious, then having Allan around would mean that we're staying with the old Knicks and it's holding us back to being the NEW Knicks...

Doubtful anyone would look at it like that... We have Clyde, Starks, Herb, all "old" Knicks that are still working with the team. Plus, I doubt that Dolan would mind still having Allan around...

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

His greatness shined in the 1999 season, but then it went all downhill from there. From 1996 - 2000 he was in the prime of his career in my opinion.
Later than that. Houston had some big seasons in those bad Knick seasons. I remember when McDyess went down, people figured we would be lucky to win 25 games. Instead we won 37. We were #1 in the league in 3's made, 3 point FG% and fewest TOs. Houston scored 20 a game and he and Spree really kept the team afloat until late in the year. The guy played his heart out on that team and the had no chance. A lot of NBAers would have mailed it in. We saw it with Vince Carter. Houston didnt. He's a class act.

Sad to see Allan have to go out this way instead of on his own terms. Allan was a major player for the Knicks the last 10 years and I for one am definately going to miss his sweet jumper. As a few have said, I bet Dolan gives him a job within the organization not too far down the road, maybe he can teach Ariza a jumper.

When Dolan is healed he is going to need his golf buddy to stay local.

I literally learned proper form for a jump shot by watching Allan for the last 9 years.

It feels like another knick era has ended.

Allan deserves to have his #20 hang in the rafters at MSG.

wow.

I have a lot of appreciation for Houston. Aside from Ewing he was as important as any Knick in the last 10 years. He hit big shots, he was an all star and he always played hard. He did his best to get back but his body simply failed him. I truly hope he is not remembered for saying YES to the "the contract" and is remembered for being one of the league's deadly sharp shooters and good guys.

I agree 100%, alan was a gamer and a hell of a nice guy, I met him a few years ago and he took a bunch of pictures with my wife and son, great guy, but he was a hell of a player, just ask Reggie miller... He should be remembered as one of the better knicks, I say top 10 for sure... We will miss you Alan....

I agree with all the sentiments already expressed. Allan wasn't a great player, but was a very good one here for a very long time, and he will be missed.

I think we get a medical exception of 4.9 million if this is deemed to be a NEW injury. ALSO - his cap savings are bigger than if we had just waived him otherwise...

True end of an era. He was the last holdover from Ewing's days.
*sniff*

I am very sad that we never got to see a Marbury-Houston backcourt coached by Larry Brown...
