I disagree with this notion that we're still waiting for the New Era! It's already here and just waiting to fully emerge. Once we drafted Ewing it didn't immediately lead to a finals appearance. We just drafted KP and the coming draft will bring new players as well. No matter what this year's team does the New Era will continue to emerge by natural causes.

I still remember how I felt during the last days of the Layden Era and it was bad. I didn't see any hope at all. At least now we know we drafted KP and he has so much upside. We know we have ALL OF OUR PICKS going forward. It won't be hard to make the switch to a youth movement around KP.

That comparison works if KP is a HOFer and Dolan and Phil build as good a supporting cast as the 90s Knicks did. Otherwise at best we're building an inferior version of the 90s Knicks. The odds are against any player (no matter how promising) becoming a HOFer and I see little convincing evidence that Dolan and Phil can build a strong team. Phil has only added one guy who belongs in a starting lineup in 3 years.

The KP era is definitely here, it's just a matter of how well it goes. Kuz, Baker, and Willy seem along for the ride, maybe O'Quinn and Holiday as well. We will see. A lot of work to do, starting in the draft.

Then once we got rid off Layden, I felt a little better and from then on even with the disappointment of last year, i've been more and more happy with the things Isaiah was doing. Now i'm extatic. We've got something to look forward to over the next few years and it feels good.

I don't know how nixluva does it. Year after year for the entire span of a generation of basketball he is "extatic" about the team, always looking at the bright side. It's like ground hog day everyday. God bless you, man. It must be a happy way to live one's life.

I know. It's been the start of a great new era every year at least since Oct 5, 2004.

Yet we all must on some level hold the same optimism otherwise why would we still be following this team over the past 12yrs?

Speak for yourself. I was old when I got here.

Lee as Oakley is almost as bad as Curry as Ewing.

Everyone has a little inner Nixluva It doesn't mean that my being positive over the years is the same level. Some teams were projects and had no chance of vying for a title and so we have to keep my enthusiasm in perspective. If we build around KP with some quality draft picks this summer that again would have to be kept in perspective for the expectations of a younger team.

I think this current team has underachieved and should not have lost so many of these games. The sting of these losses is not the same as in years when we didn't have our picks. I don't think that's an unreasonable take to have about this current team. We're not locked into Rose or Jennings. Some of these guys like Lee should be very tradeable. It's not the worst situation we've been in.

While Curry was a bust- some of the players we added through the years - guys like Zach, Crawford, Frye, Lee, Ariza - they are still winning and looking great in new circumstances.

Would they have looked as good as they do now if we kept them? Would we have been able to build a winner with them? Who knows - but I say we're still waiting on that new era because Phil has turned over this roster every year. And that is now way to build.

Is D Rose part of the future? If not, trade him or release him after the deadline. Let Baker start. He's no star, but perhaps he can be serviceable role player and part of the future.

Same really with Jennings.

It seems like just seconds ago we were all so happy and positive with the Bargs trade!
