he didnt have problems guarding bigs last year. He had problems chasing smaller guys on the perimeter. If you have Sweetney coming out 20 feet to check guys (as he often did last year) the problem is the coaching and not Sweetney's weight.
The good PFs in this league can put the ball on the floor away from the basket. Sweetney will have to have enough quickness to guard them if he doesn't want to be a defensive liability. He'll also have to have enough quickness to provide help defense when guards penetrate. The Sweetney we had last year was a very long way from being able to do that, and it certainly doesn't look like his body is in the condition to improve in those areas from his performance last year.

Agreed. Bottom line is Sweetney didn't fit on this roster and he makes a whole lot of sense next to Chandler. I don't think there's any denying that Curry is a superior post pressence though.
yeah, we need 7 feet down there, fast and agile. Curry. Not Sweets.

Sweets also has a knack for getting to the line, which still puts his defender at his mercy. He also has the potential to be the best offensive rebounder in the game, outside of Swift and B. Wallace.
I also think he still would have contributed nicely with his Post up game for us.

Sweetney's basically had comparable scoring and rebounding efficiency to Frye and inferior #s to Curry. It's still very early, obviously. It would have been nice to keep Sweetney and get Curry but that definitely did not appear to be an option.

Taht would have put us some where between Sa and Miami.

I'm not sure it would have *that* big an effect. Those teams have Duncan and Shaq!

Sweetney's almost as wide as Shaq!

Joking aside, Sweetney's going to be a real good NBA player. I hope he has a good career like I know he will.

I still like getting Curry, though.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I actually think he'll be close to Barkley by his 5th year.
