Antonio Davis, being the prez on the player's union, is really blowing a good chance to lead by example.

If he doesn't want to come here, cool. We'll save money, cuz he's kidding himself if he believes for a moment that anyone other than him will take a monetary loss.

AD is a punk for going out like this.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

AD is a punk for going out like this.

He was a punk when LJ hit that 4 pt play from the Eastern Conference finals back in '99 and he's still a punk for not wanting to join this team...

I kept hearing how much of a professional AD is and such a good influence, well so far he isn't making that impression on me... All I see is a selfish player at the end of his career, trying to have things his way.. I call that selfish.

Let me get serious for a minute. Realistically why would he choose Chicago over NY. I mean he's in the last year of his contract and said he wants to retire after the season. Who has the better chance of being in the playoffs this year the bulls or the knicks? I believe we will have a much better season than da bulls. But if a player dosen't want to be here I say try your best to get rid of him because a cancer in the locker room is something we can do without this year.

It just makes him a non-Knick.

His loss.

If that's your point of view, why do you even care what I think about AD?

I don't know if "care" is the most accurate verb.

You're allowed to label anyone you want,

but we know so little about what's really going on.

The only thing we know for certain

is that there's more to AD's malcontent than all involve claim.

Why do you think he's a punk?

'Cause he loves his wife?

'Cause he smart enough to not reveal to his 'bosses' his true motives?

Maybe he is a punk. But it's definitely

not because he won't report to the Knicks,

multimillionaire that he undoubtedly already is.

When you an AD get in a street fight

and he turns tail and flees, leaving you to fend for you self

then, I'll agree with you.

I think that's the point he doesn't want to walk away from the $13 million. He wants the Knicks to pay him the $13 million and release him so he can play for Chicago for the minimum.

I dunno.

What he's 'wants' to do,

and what his agent is responsible for representing

as what he's willing to do

are two very different things.

If the $13 million were his true priority,

then why wouldn't he just show up to camp?

Great point, TKF. IT should package him and Penny and get some guys who want to be here. AD is a thug on and OFF the court. He is basically trying to rob the Knicks of $$ and from a bball point of view, flexibility of roster. His contract is an asset and IT should not waste it just to make him happy. IT is right, this is not charity and NY is in no position to be giving it out. By saying he will only play in CHItown, makes him untradeable too. What a thug!

yea, he is almost untradeble now with those comments, I would not give in to AD, more than anyone he should know the nature of this business, if the bulls want him back, show us how much and give us back the first round pick from next year...

I want sweets back and the pick for that ungrateful mother sucker. I got to wake up every day and go to a job that pays me $11.00 an hour and they don't care if my mother is sick or not. So if somebody getting paid 13 million for one year he should be obligated to bring his butt to work.

Antonio said "it is hard to walk away from $13 million..." Not his agent, not his wife. If money is not an issue, squash it. Just retire or was that a ploy. Why ask the Knicks to waive you? Why go on this BS PR sprint about your mother-in-law illness and kids being in school, stuff. You don't have to bring them with you. Hell Clemens kept his Texas and still visited them on his days off. This is your profession to use Stern words. BTW, you are on the road half the time in Chicago anyway. AD is showing he has no class right about now. To me a buyout should no longer be an option. Just say the 2 words. I retire if you are such a family man. I mean we give guys like Spree for saying it but Antonio is pretty saying it but in a silent way. Everyone handles grief differently but are you telling me that Sweetney or TT has more heart than AD. Both those guys experienced tragedies last season but you know what they showed up to camp. Also I am curious, if he was still on the Bulls roster would he be in camp?

Here is what IT should offer for a buy out:

$2.00 and if you don't take that right now, my next offer is $1.00.

You're away from your family half the time anyway.

And school? I don't want to discriminate against chicago or the mid west, but I've got to imagine there is a better school (if they're going the private route) in the NYC/ tri state area than what they're in now.

It insults me to have this overpaid numbskull basically insult where I live.

The guy is 37 and shot. So what, he's a cool dude to have around but if gets playing time we complain about him eating others minutes.

I prefer he retire, but paying him 5 mil saves us like 8, and who cares anyway what we pay him! Dolan don't, why should you.

The guy wanted to be in chicago for family reasons. Kids in schools they like, wife has family to support her and visa versa, its nice. The dude don't want to relocate. He ain't no punk! Just trying to get most of his contract. We'd all do the same.

Hate to break it to you

But there are LOTS of Americans who make $13 mil per year.

Most don't work anywhere as hard as AD does.

We need to just say no to getting Tim Thomas back. That is unacceptable he left his heart somewhere in Milwaukee if anyone has seen it please return it to him as soon as possible.

Please. Tim Thomas hasn't shown heart since he got his first big NBA contract. Athleticism got him a ridiculously overpaid contract and every team he's been on has felt the afteraffects.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Please- he works for maybe 3 hours a day, for 7-8 months a year. That's not hard.

I also don't think there are 'LOTS' of Amnericans making $13m per year- and those that do probably do not play a sport.

He gets paid the money he does because of his size and talent. He does work 'hard', but not as hard as other 'ordinary' americans making that kind of money.

By 'quality of life', I think he means being with family and friends. I don't think he's trying to diss New York.

I agree AD should report here. Who really cares what he has going on. That may sound mean but so is life. Handle your business in Chicago but then do the right thing and come to the Knicks. He's been in this league he know what it's about. There are no promises. It was foolish of him to some how believe that he was untouchable. That he would just remain with Chicago for the rest of his career. That's crazy. I hope Isiah does not waive him. If he does he's stupid. A Sweets for Davis trade is the only thing that would work for me. Not sure if the salaries would make it work but it's logical in terms of talent.
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.

I don't see how AT has any leverage at all. If he doesn't report, he shouldn't get paid. End of story. We shouldn't pay him. And we shouldn't waive him, because we want his expiring contract. We should trade him if we get the right deal. Otherwise we should suspend him.

Not about him being a punk or not. He wants to stay in Chicago, fine. His choice. But he shouldn't expect us to pay him for playing for a competitor or hanging out with his family. And why would we buy him out? I'd rather pay nothing than a big portion of his salary if he's not playing for us.

This all assumes we didn't agree w/ Chicago to waive him and buy him out. Which we probably did.

Horrors! IT breaking the NBA's rules? It's hard to imagine.
