What's going to be the best is watching Phoenix this year.

"Nash passes to Thomas. Amare is open. Kurt shoots up an 18 footer. Clunk!"

"Thomas with the ball. Open lane. He puts up a jumper. Clank!"

"Thomas goes for the block. Foul!"

"Thomas goes for the steal. Foul!"

"Thomas watches his opponent go in for the dunk."

"He goes for the dunk. Thomas swings his arms. Foul! Three point play!"

Phoenix will drop back down to 35 wins.

couldn't have said it any better..great job Solace! Nice to know some of us actually pay attention

LOL I knew it was only a matter of time before people started the "I wish we had..." trip.

KT's gone, and I'm not even going to start with the "what if" speculating. He's in a good situation, and so are we. That's good enough.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

A combo of Curry and Frye can cause havoc, both can score, and Frye can definitely be a shot blocker. For those of you who are missing Kurt, let me remind you that we are a much better rebounding team now. our starting SG and SF are much better rebounders. I don't care if it is Q and Ariza or Q and Lee, the SG and SF position will be rebounding the ball efficiently.....which will turn us into a much better defensive squad also. I will not miss Kurt.

" With Michael Sweetney gone, the Knicks will have a battle for starting power forward. Even with the Knicks keeping Antonio Davis for now, Maurice Taylor appears the favorite"

This concerns me a little bit

you've got to be kidding me! there's no way Taylor starts! another guy who can't rebound and plays below average defense! curry, taylor, Q, H20, Marbury?! not one frickin defensive player in the starting lineup! Yeah Brown is really going to go for that. More proof the NY Post is awful!

I am not scared of Marbury's defense anymore and I think Crawford and Q will be fine. If we can play Houston for ohhhh, 20 minutes, I wont be too scared either. A good starting lineup for defense and offense is Marbury, Q, Ariza, Davis and Curry. Either that, or just start Marbury and Crawford. I don't see anyway Houston takes a starting spot, unless he totally blows everyone away with his jumpshooting.

Ohhh, and Hello to you too Bip.....

On a side note: If you haven't figured it out I am now officially nicknaming Jerome James "LB's urinary tract inflection"

Well, people here started calling him "Big Game" which I found to be completely out of hand, ludicrious and unjustifiable, so I had to counter by saying it's "Big Gay". I think I had one person laugh at that, but no matter, I stand alone and proud!

I like what we've done. KT was gonna lose value the longer we kept him. Getting Q and Nate was amazing.

Whether or not you think Thomas was a bad fit here, he was our best shooter and very consistent with his jumper. He averaged more rebounds than anyone on this team, and he was willing to work hard and play hard for us - something most of the current knicks haven't done yet. He's no Garnett, but he is still better than any power forward we have on our team right now. I like the trade because of the time frame of our team, but it's not fair to say he can't hit open jumpers or won't play defense, because that's not true.

Never said he was a bad player or that he is unable to play defense. He had his good points, and he would fill *some* needs we have, however:

Over the last three years, he's had NO inside game at all. He refuses to make any contact on the offensive end, as to try to get any easy buckets. He's just a jump shooter. That does not cut it for a slow PF; not at that position. If he gets the ball, he's putting up a jumper. He's a good jump shooter for a PF... but note I said, for a PF. You need players with more inside ability. Yes, he rebounds... but that's because much of the time we didn't have anyone else who could rebound. When you have Allan Houston on the court, that's 2 rebounds per 40 minutes, so your bigs better rebound, otherwise you're getting outrebounded by 15 every night. Kurt rebounded, but his opponents often got more boards than he did. He also deferred unless the bound was right in his direction.

As for his defense, it was wildly overrated. His best defensive play was yanking the other guy's shorts as a distraction. He could body up guys, but he was foul prone. At best he was an average defender, at his worst, the other team won the game because of all the points at PF, and the fact that nobody stopped their guards from driving.

Sorry, but Kurt was a nice player years ago, and yes he still has things to bring to the table, but, honestly, I won't miss him this year.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Power Forward is now one of the strongest positions in the league, after the 2 - Garnett, Duncan, Amare - so a lot of teams get beat at power forward. I have no doubt that we will be as bad if not worse this year defending the four.

I know he had no inside game, so I can understand the trade, but for the role he played, he played it well.

As far as rebounding, the fact that nobody else on the knicks could rebound worked against him - he didn't ever get any easy boards like other players - look at marion and amare. If one of them wasn't there, the other's rebounding would drop because one boxes out and helps the other grab boards. He was our best defensive player, which isn't saying he is first team all defense, but he gave his all out there - he was ten times the defender sweetney was and curry is. As far as being foul prone - sweetney was much worse, and frye looks like he might be just as bad. I'm not saying we shouldn't have made that trade, but he's still a solid player and doesn't deserve have the crap knick fans give him - that should be reserved for players like crawford and marbury who don't play any defense.

this thread is moot as it appears we will keep Antonio Davis. AD will be great for this team. I have no problem with playing guys like him and Rose when Curry and Frye are around taking notes.

Hell, if Frye shows he can rebound and play defense during preseason I would start him next to Curry. On offense I think both would complement each other very well. Of course, the question is what would they do on defense? If our coaches can turn these guys into better rebounders and better defensive players overall (which I think they can considering how young both are), then I really think Frye and Curry is our frontcourt for a long time. Right now, I think it will be Antonio Davis or Malik Rose starting with Curry, which isn't bad at all. Maurice Taylor definitely won't be starting contrary to what the Post thinks.

KT did his job while he played for the Knicks but would you really want him back over Young Channing Frye. This dude is going to be better than Kurt Thomas and there is no doubt about that. Isiah would not have drafted him if he was not a good player. Check Zeke's track record on draft picks(Trevor Ariza, Marcus Camby, Damon Stoudamire, Nate Robinson and Tracy FreakinMcGrady). Isiah knows what he's doing when the draft comes around. I say give the young kid a chance to shine, Kurt had his time and he produced no rings.

lee and frye = Kurt at this point in time.
lee and frye >= Kurt by season's end.

PS...I loved Kurt, but I'm loving Curry Frye more.
