For weeks, the Knicks have been rumored to be interested in Curry, the kind of scorer they need to compliment banger Jerome James in the middle.

Compliment Jerome James? Jerome is a career backup! We can compliment him by saying he gives us 15 minutes as a reserve off the bench, and he has good table manners!

The funky base year thing makes a deal very very complicated and expensive. Curry is playing hardball and will walk, which makes it scarey for the bulls.

I didnt really mean Baron, per say. Rather that caliber of player.

Would you trade Nate/Sweetney/TT and the Spurs 06 #1 for Elton Brand at the deadline?

no I was just saying that Baron is not on the same calibur as Brand. A dime a dozen player like Baron is a lot easier to get for TT's expiring contract than a player of the calibur of Brand or even a fringe allstar bigman. But Bobs is right a TT/Sweetney for Curry deal wouldn't work but maybe the knicks take back some garbage

What is the point of this thread....am I reading this correctly?

Paxson denied a published report that in recent days he had repeatedly turned down the Knicks' proposed offer of forwards Tim Thomas and Michael Sweetney.

Where in the article does it say the deal was ever offered?

Both he and Isiah denied that. It would be extremely stupid to make that trade b/c then you're basically paying Curry more than 15 mm to start!!! We may have questioned Isiah a few times before, but he sure isn't THAT dumb.

Its hard to evaluate talent on the Clippers but I think Brand instantly gives you the frontcourt to be a top 3 team in the East. With Brand you can put guys like Frye, JJ, Lee and they becomes great role players.

I think with Brand we are still a little short of the Pacers, Pistons and Heat but we would take them deep to 6 or 7 games and be within a couple lucky Crawford 3's to stealing a series against them.

So yea... I think Brand is that good.

I think he would do for us what CWebb did for the Kings. MAybe not enough to win a title but I can guarentee you we get close enough to at least have a shot at it.

fair points..

Paxson confirmed he had talked with the New York Knicks earlier in the week about a possible sign-and-trade deal for Curry, but he said it was highly unlikely such a move would be made.

Paxson denied a published report that in recent days he had repeatedly turned down the Knicks' proposed offer of forwards Tim Thomas and Michael Sweetney.

Paxson called it a "bizarre proposal" but declined to elaborate

i think they mustve offered Curry a maximum contract offer

if this was the case, then isiah needs to be fired on the spot.

yea right...i'd give curry a 3yr max deal. i believe the the 2nd year had incentives, and the 3rd was a team option. Its difficult to find a center who can average around 20ppg and is only 22.

Why does Isaiah seem so interested in big men who can't or won't rebound?

I think he's looking for a Center who can score and draw double teams in the paint. If that guy averages 7 or 8 boards a night...That's okay. He can get a double-digit rebounding guy to play the 4...That should help make up for it.

Curry wouldnt be signed to an extension, its a new contract. BYC would be if Curry signed an extension and they tried to trade him last year.
