In a couple of years, the Bobcats will be a winning team and OKR will be an NBA superstar, or at least boarderline. Lets see what they can do with the guard position, but they do have some serious talent in their frontline.

I said the whole time last year that Houston was going to be a contender. I just didn't realize that Dallas was better than I thought and that their defense had improved overall. But if Shaq and Wade can stay healthy and if the Miami chemistry is there, then I just don't see how any team can be better than them. The way I see it though, the team to watch out for is Indiana. Theya are gonna miss Reggie, however.

Miami has too much bone head talent. The sum must be greater than the pieces. Too many chiefs, not enough indians! (role players)

While I agree with that for the most part. They still have Shaq and that makes them the team to beat in the East. I think on any regular team that is assembled with too many stars, like the Heat have done, that it would be a problem but they still have Shaq and that my friends is MORE then enough.

I'd rather have too much talent, then not enough...

Btw, the Bobcats won't be doing SHIT for atleast 3 years. They don't have anything CLOSE to a playoff caliber team...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Knicks at 20??

I like to leave upside surprise for the Knicks.
I don't have a clue what they are or who is actually playing where, so I discounted them for question marks in the frontline. I had the guards ranked in the top ten and the frontline near the end of the pile and you put a little more emphasis on the frontline.. In the case of Utah, I ranked them dead last in guards and while they have a nice frontline, it's filled with chemistry problems.
I think Philly and the Celtics are on course for disaster. Philly which had all that PF firepower to start last season, replace it with an energy C who is not a PF and will have heavy reliance on a gimp--Webber.

Boston, to me they are an expansion team +Pierce and Ricky Davis. I dont know what the F they are doing-i like jefferson, but they are acting like he is dwight howard, and he is not even sweetney yet.

I put the Clippers as the surprise team 5th seed west, but if you really evaluate just what they have right now, I think its a fair position.

Clev--they probably improved the most, even more than Miami if you think about it reasonably. Larry Hughes is very close to an all star player and Donyell Marshall is a real nice fit, they have tremenous length and the best wing player in the game--maybe the best player? in the game in Lebron. they didnt go through radical change, which I think is important. I think they will add a PG and third big.

Briggs, you should quit while you're ahead.... Bobcats better than Boston????

Horrible.

Im a big believer that frontlines win games

if you dont think Okafor May Brezac Ely Voshkul are better than the crp Boston has, youre out of your gord. One thing I realized about the bobcats, they play hard, and now they added serious talent

1) Of the frontline players you listed, Okafor is the only really good one. May is a question mark at this point. Brezac is ok. Ely and Voshkuhl aren't very good.

2) I know you believe that frontlines win games, but shouldn't Paul Pierce have some place in this comparison?

Listen, it's a horrible ranking, but it doesn't matter, b/c the offseason isn't over yet. We can do this again closer to October, when teams start putting the finishing touches on their roster...

Just saw this thread now. Houston #1?? They're best player would be third best on the Heat. And Houston's third best player probably wouldn't get more than 15 mpg on the Heat. They added a 10/4 PF and that's supposed to put them over the top? I like the addition of Stro for them but a lot of teams have improved much more than they did from last year. I don't see a reason to predict much more than finishing with about the 7th best record again.

utah has both the 25th and the 27th best teams in the NBA. the state of Utah should seriously think about merging the two teams into one powerhouse

I think he meant to put the Sixers in one of those spots. I am more interested that he believes that the Lakers will jump up to be the 11th best team in the NBA. That jump will be just as significant as the Suns jump. To me I don't see it. You have to be super believers in Brown and Bynum because Kobe and Odom both have high caliber years and they finished just sightly ahead of the Knicks last season.

I'm going with a small market final, Indiana v. San Antonio.

With the final four being:
Lakers, Knicks, San antonio and Pacers
all kool aid all the time.

kidding... Pacers, Heat, Spurs and ... Houston. (yep, I think last year they were better than they showed in the playoffs, and I've not been convinced anybody out west has done anything to make their teams better)

I'd go with Miami or Detroit over Indiana.

Indy looks too light at the power positions to me. After O'Neal and Foster I don't see anyone else there unless Harrison develops a lot over the year.

I like Houston. I think adding Swift makes them scary to score on with yao in the middle. Thats is a lot of length and size to score over--and then the second unit of Howard and Deke is also very good. They got Derek Andersen, but if they are able to add spree as well, then more people will jump on their bandwagon. But I think they have the goods right now.

LA Clippers--if the Knicks had Chris Kaman Elton Brand Chris Wilcox Rebraca Maggette, Mobley Cassell flanked by Livingston Korolev[who could indeed be a steal of this draft as i have been following what he has been doing] Daniel Ewing and still had money and and room for two-three more players for depth, there would be people screaming to high hell. Is there a week that goes by where I dont see a post that includes trading half of our team for Brand Maggette or Wilcox. Will see if it comes together and we will see if the LAC owners provide the $ for the additional depth they will need, but if you add frontcourt and backcourt talent--lac are in the top 10 right now.

Well if Granger pans out, you think they'd play Artest at the 4 at all?

I don't follow college ball, so I know nothing of granger, but experience leads me to believe that rookies generally don't show much on teams that are already in contention, so I'm thinking Granger is in for a bunch of DNP's.

i like Houston also, but i'm not seeing anything in that team that leads me to believe they can stop Nash and Amare.
