the only thing I'm worried about is it would've been smarter for houston to accept amnesty and go to a contender. Why would he now retire? when has he ever done anything considerate for this franchise? He's not going to retire and we're going to be stuck with his $20mil per for 2 more years

i think LB and isiah talked to houston and if he cant comeback sometime this season(fully healthy) he probably promised them he would retire. If he comes back healthy, we can use him. If he rehabs all yr, and is still not healthy, i'm sure he'll retire.

Knicks have no one but themselves to blame. You can blame Houston for the decline of the franchise all you want, but the screw ups the Knicks have made have faaaaaaaar outweighed Houstons contract and injuries.

Good point, even if Houston had been given a contract commensurate with his performance, maybe averaging 10-11mm per instead of $20mm, it would have no bearing at all on the Knicks cap situation, or other bonehead moves like the Ewing and McDyess trades. The $100mm contract really only did two things: Made him harder to trade, and made him a beacon, a symbol of everything that was wrong with the Knicks business model under the Layden regime, even though it was Checketts that gave him the deal in the first place. If he was paid less than say Sprewell, would he have been such a target of derision?

Methinks not.

No, It's not about "sometime this season" because that was Allan's excuse/reason/copout LAST year.

I am SO tired of this drama. I really hoped it would have ended today.

Allan Houston is starting to remind me of Grandpa in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre flicks- every sequel, he's back, and does less and less until you just say "Why the hell is he even there?"
Another old, decrepit, already-been-replaced character... that should have ended up on the cutting room floor today.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Yeah I know, the news quoted it from Allan himself. It's just that the story is getting VERY old.
Now it's the retirement option. Dolan needs his ass kicked if this thing blows up (meaning that if Allan doesn't retire).

It's like buying a new engine, only to find out that the tranny won't let you get past 1st gear.
