Let me tell you whats really funny. All of this talk about big men all year long and not one single time has Marc Jackson's name come up. Not once. Now that the nets have Marc Jackson, he is instantly a smart move.

He's roughly a year older than JJ but HE is relatively young? LOL!!!! You guys kill me with your pessimism!!!!

Jamal Crawford blocks more shots than Marc Jacksonis that what we need from a center?

We need a presence in the middle and we got it. Marc Jackson is not worse than Jerome James, just worse for us than jerome James is. I'd prefer Nazzy to Marc Jackson.

As I said before, THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER.....

Typical, now marc jackson is a good move.... OK, I am sorry but Jackson is a bum, as much as we are down on Jerome James, I will take him over jackson anyday.... If I am going to have a bum, at least make him 7 feet tall...

Don't forget that if we didn't get JJ he could have likely gone to another Eastern Conference team...so maybe we pay a little extra but we also prevent our competition from beefing up where we were very vulnerable.

most people wouldn't consider getting JJ 'beefing up', and it seems like isiah wasn't bidding against anyone for his services. I think what people are missing is that the Nets got Marc Jackson for a 2nd round pick, and still have their MLE. I wouldn't give Marc Jackson the entire MLE, but I wouldn't give Jerome James the full MLE either. I would have rather traded a 2nd round pick for Marc Jackson and held onto the MLE for another player. maybe spend part of it on steven hunter or something. let's not judge jerome james by one playoff series, let's look at his entire career, or at least all of last season - he isn't an impact player.

You don't know who IT was bidding against, you have to assume there was at least one other team seriously interested. There's a question about JJ's talent--I'm going with IT as far as a talent evaluator goes.

Our competition? Dude, we are not even a playoff team.

Man, this season can't start soon enough.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

actually it's 7 years at $52 mil for jerome james

this is pretty bad. we WAY overpaid for jerome james - there's no doubts about that. but come on, let's not even talk about marc jackson please.

Does the league allow 7 year contracts? I'm thinking 5 is the max under the new deal.

Marc Jackson an impact player? C'mon people. At least JJ has the ability to alter the game with his shot blocking and presence...
agreed and I'd take Frye over Marc Jackson anyway

Your obvious distain for anyting briggs says clouds your wit into mush.

Even if he is right only half the time, he is right 100 times more you are! He takes a shot with an opinion, you just snit at others.

Little scared gay robot!

Whoa (not that your point is wrong).

If we signed Marc Jackson we should have kept Nazr.

Marc Jackson has the athleticism of Kurt Thomas, without the post defense of rebounds. I'll friggin pass!!!!

AND I got flak for wanting SAR last season who is 19 and 8, but you guys want a big 6-10 guy who is 12 and 5 and blocks shots at about the same rate as an undersized 2 guard who is known for how bad his defense is? Am I taking crazy pills??

Marc Jackson would have been a better stop gap pick up than JJ value wise.

I can't rip JJ though I gotta see him play for us first.

fellas, Marc Jackson is a decent backup. Let's not overreact. This guy averaged less rebounds per 48 than Jerome James, less blocks per 48 minutes than JJ had in 15 minutes a night, he's 3 inches shorter, a year older... I mean what's the problem again? I'd much rather put David Lee, Channing Frye, Jerome James, Malik Rose, Michael Sweetney out there. Sorry, this is ridiculous.

Mark can score - but that's IT. And he doesn't score all that well either.

?? when did this deal happen... 5yrs/30mil sounds right, especially when you add up how much he'll be making each yr in all 5 years of his contract.
