No way buddy. Pheonix will have a deeper and even more improved defensive team next year. They're offseason isn't even done yet.

Miami will probably lose Damon Jones, but wow, talk about having pieces. To go from where they were 2 years ago to where they are now is ridiculous.

San Antonio BARELY won last year, and Detroit takes a hit by losing Brown. Any injuries to their backcourt and they're ****ed.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

All I can say is......

DYNOMITE!!!

Let's not forget Earl Watson is a decent point guard and he is perfect for Doc Rivers and Boston.

The east is back!......and so is the NBA.

All we need is Minnesota to give the Knicks Garnett and we can watch some real basketball for a change........It will be like the 80's early 90's all over again!!!!

I hope Miami falls on their damn faces. All those players. but only one ball.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Spree, I'm feelin you, but cmon...Minnesota losing Garnett would be like the Lakers losing Kobe. And that's just not happening. Can you say PR Nightmare?

I know some of you would rather be ultra-patient and take the time to build a legit championship caliber team from scratch, but as a fan, I'm just not feelin that. I'm willing to work with the talent that we have (Craw, Q, Marbury, etc.) and see where we go from there, but there's no way we're winning games without a legit froncourt presence. Not one of our PF's constitutes that. We need an impact big man. It doesn't HAVE to be Garnett or Brand, although that would be nice.

I think we have the pieces to shake things up a bit, but is Isiah smart enough to know WHEN to pull the trigger and for WHO?

Amen.

Knicks deserve Garnett though. PR nightmare but what kind of team is minnesota gonna put out there next year? A lottery team? By the time they are ready to contend again it will be when Garnett is well into his 30's.

Both walker and J will need the ball to be effective. they are not the the team players they are made out to be in this thread. if it was the knicks who picked up any of those players it would be get rid of IT. Miami is not better with those players.
Does my faith show? Go Knicks!!!

wow...that trade for miami has fantasy league flavor....with that line-up i hope j-will and walker expect less touches. miami should have no problem in spreading the floor.

i hope stan dont get the axe, but this line-up almost begs for riles couching expertise to come forth.

and just taking this a wee bit further, can you imagine a kobe/kwame/odom vs shaq/wade/walker showdown with the zen master and showtime riles in the driver seat..............hmmmmmm

it just got bigger:

Five-Team Trade Nears Completion
2nd August, 2005 - 8:03 pm
AP - Antoine Walker, Jason Williams and James Posey could soon be coming to the Miami Heat in a proposed five-team trade that was nearing completion Tuesday, according to a lawyer and league official both familiar with terms of the complicated deal.

"Unless something strange happens, it's going to happen," said the lawyer, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Miami -- which signed Shaquille O'Neal to a $100 million, five-year deal earlier Tuesday -- would obtain Walker in a sign-and-trade from the Boston Celtics , then add Williams, Posey and rookie Andre Emmett from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for veteran swingman Eddie Jones.

The trade -- which has been submitted to the league for approval -- was first reported by The Miami Herald. League and team officials generally do not openly discuss proposed trades until they become finalized.

Walker, Williams and Jones are the headliners in the proposed deal, one that also includes the aftereffects of a three-team deal agreed to earlier Tuesday by Sacramento, Memphis and Utah.

As part of the Walker deal, Boston would obtain Qyntel Woods, the rights to Spanish center Albert Miralles and the Heat's $1.9 million trade exception.

Walker, a three-time All-Star who averaged 19.1 points and nine rebounds last season for the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics , would be a welcome addition to the Heat, said forward Udonis Haslem -- who formally signed his $30.7 million, five-year deal Tuesday.

"We're two different players and we can bring two different things to the table," Haslem said. "If we put that together, we should have a pretty good tandem."

The Celtics would get Borchardt from Memphis; Borchardt was part of Tuesday's earlier trade in which Sacramento acquired guard Bonzi Wells from Memphis for guard Bobby Jackson and center Greg Ostertag.

Memphis was then expected to send Ostertag to the Utah Jazz for guard Raul Lopez, forward Kirk Snyder and Borchardt. Snyder would be sent to New Orleans, along with the Heat's Rasual Butler, and Borchardt would head to Boston.

Jones, a career 16.4-point-per-game scorer, averaged 12.7 in the regular season and 13.7 in the playoffs as Miami's third option. Williams averaged 10.1 points and 5.6 assists for the Grizzlies last season.

"He's one of the best playmakers in the game," Haslem said of Williams.

Posey was limited to 50 games this past season because of injuries, and only 18 starts. He averaged 8.1 points and 4.4 rebounds. [READ]

Miami is OFFICIALLY the favorite to win the title next year.

Also wanted to say that, while Memphis is getting less than market value for their players, they're building the right way. West is bringing in low-key, defensively-solid, veteran players to surround his young talent.

Jones, Stoudamire, B-Jax... THOSE are the type of players you bring in.

Hey, the Heat just got tougher and they are nearly a lock to win the East (Indiana and Detroit will still contend furiously IMHO), but what is San Antonio... chopped liver?! SA is still the team to beat and nobody in the West (or even the East) comes close...

Shaq vs. Duncan next year. Nice moves for Miami. I actually think Posey will be just as useful to them as Walker will be. The coup is JWill though.

But, really, this isn't the stuff that bothers me. Miami is making a short one or two year run. By the time the Knicks are ready to make a real run, Shaq will be in moth balls. It's a smart move by Miami to get this depth and try to cut the Big Fella's minutes though...

I've looked at Realgm and Espn.com and neither article mentions Earl Watson being involved? Was that definitely part of the trade?

You guys are nuts, I cannot see Shaquille O'Neal-Antoine Walker-Dwyane Wade-Jason Williams working. This is not NBA Live. Those four are a bad fit offensively and especially defensively. No way they beat Detroit or Indiana.
