how is this not even a remote possibility when the Knicks took on over $100 million in longterm salary in the very 1st big trade Isiah ever made as a Knicks GM?

Finley is a nice seasoned player....old....but he has been through the trenches and probably is hungry for a title. He's turned into a jump shooter.....but thing is....the Knicks need that right now. He has leadership qualities.....LB probably would love him.

It's a funny thing though. I wouldn't trade for him unless we got rid of a power forward...or two!!!.....at the same time I wouldn't be mad if we got him. I think he would fit well with Marbs.

I just think he's too broken down and way too expensive now.

Maybe the media in Dallas had yet to receive the news that Scott LayDown is NOT our GM/Prez anymore. Let them rethread that rumor using Utah as a suitor.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

The Knicks have to get better. The Dolans aren't rich....they are royalty wealthy!!!!! so who cares about salary?!?!?!?!?!?

Isiah is trying to manuver the roster and try to get talent with the trade and draft while still staying compeditive. It's a glitch in the system.

He is old and he is expensive, but we're the knicks and we got room for one more max salary.

what about something like getting Finley, Marquis Daniels & perhaps a pick for TT or Penny & Mo T & a pick? perhaps include Q or Craw (obviously later in season w/Q).

With Finley, you waive houston and let TT or Penny's deal expire.

Im a little fearful of this, we did take Mo Taylor off the rockets hands. What did I say, our ending contracts would end up as mike Finley--God dont let it come to pass and for some unkown reason it does, they better get 3 unrestricted picks starting in 2007. Boy we cant wait to see if we can do a mega block buster mid season for a big man--if we get Finley, Brown Thomas I dont give a sht who is runningt he Knicks, they are out of their gorde.

there are still scary scenarios here, Im scared we have Brown with a roster of guys not really to his liking. well, it should atleast give entertainment value.

Unfortunately, were were just that until Isiah got here. Now it's time for us to get the sweet end of deals, making some other team the beeotch.

what if it turns out to be a deal with expiring contracts (penny or TT) in which we get Finley but also either marquis daniels/josh howard? those two could both become studs in a few years. what about a houston for finley deal? would you guys be opposed to that? finleys contract is longer but he can still play...even though that means we wont be in as good a cap situation in 07

I agree with you....

Dude still can score 20 when he is healthy. If we got him right now the first thing all the press and internet junkies like us would kill Isiah.

Still.....salary aside....it would not be a terrible idea.

edit: Only if it's for Mo Taylor and a filler.....I'd like to hold on to Timmy and Penny and use one of them to get a bonified post threat to fill the 4 spot.

So what do we say to Allan Hous-done?

I guess "bye", "peace", or "see ya!" would suffice.

This is really crazy. Everyone here wants to see the Knicks waive Houston yet some would trade for Finley? Huh? Do we have something with old injured jump shooters? We are trying to find minutes for all Marb, Nate, Crawford and Q yet you would bring Finley? And in a trade, when he will be waived soon? Please, say no to Finley! If we get another player, let it be a big man, and preferibly young.

In addition, we can use the expiring contracts (Penny, TT) to trade for someone better than a 30-something scorer on the decline.

According to a reprint found in a differnt forum tells us that under the new CBA the amnisty rule allows the cut player to only recieve his salary in just $5 million payments! For Allan, that would mean the payments get deffered for 8 years!

This really helps teams, kinda hurts players as they have to wait to get the money, which does cost them lost "opportunity".
