There's a difference b/w appeasing the coach and doing the right thing.

any chance we get to cut out the fat at pf, you take it. isiah has to look at it from 2 vantage points - his as a GM, and Larry's as a coach. But at the end of the day, I think his point of view on this particular issue has to come first.

The team would benefit more from opening up the roster. Larry might prefer to have JYD around, but since when does a coach come before the team.

But like I said, I'm talking from my point of view, not Isiah's or yours. I would do everything in my power to reel Brown in, but as far as players are concerned, certain things are Isiah's call, and certain things are Larry's...

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

the possibility is still out there. what if we traded one of our PF's and a 2nd round pick for JJ instead of the MLE for 5 years? someone brought this up and it's true, something can still be worked out.

what if it ended up being:

mo taylor + #2 pick for jj at $8 mil/4 years (NOT FIVE).

would that be a more palatable deal?

this would allows us to throw the FULL MLE at someone like hunter.

why would it be better to pay a scrub like James $3 million more per season than they would if they were to just sign him to a MLE?

& why would signing another scrub like Hunter to a full MLE be a desirable thing?

this would be 2 worse moves to make than just signing James to a full MLE to begin with.

JYD - Like any b-ball fan, I dig this guy. But, he is incredibly overrated on this site. He doesn't have half the skill level of Mo. He has never contributed to any team like Rose contributed to the Spurs championship squad.

Its tough to understand why JYD isn't a better player. Great strength, length. Solid athlete. Great effort/character. Horrible skill level that has never improved. Is this the path of Trevor Ariza? Let's hope not.

here's a sign & trade that would warm me up to the JJ acquisition:

Mo T & Sweetney for Jerome James, Reggie Evans (S&T) & a future protected 1st round pick

then you save the MLE until a player that's worth that money comes along later on down the road...otherwise you save the cap space & the money & don't offer any foolish longterm contracts to marginally talented players like Hunter.

you'd still have a decent team w/upgraded defense & rebounding in the frontcourt & quickness in the backcourt, along w/another asset for the future w/that added pick.

C - James / Frye / Butler
PF - Evans / Rose / JYD
SF - TT / Ariza
SG - Q / Crawford
PG - Marbury / Nate
