I find all this love for Herb to be a little sickening. I mean I understand that he has a long relationship with Madison Garden and the Knicks but correct me if I am wrong, he wasn't the head coach, he was the interim. Now Brown has to be saddled with Herb in order to project "I am not a bad guy" image.

what a stupid thing to say.

He may have overstated it, but what's the big freakin' deal if they keep Herb or not? It's not like he distinguished himself when he was the interim head coach.

Its Larry that wants to keep Herb- they met last year at Larry's summer clinic and Larry is a nice human being who doesn't have the heart for stabbing people in the back like Isiah did with Chaney on Dave Lettermans show.

lets get real here. larry stabbed his former team in the back to
get a $50 million dollar pay day. and i don't blame him one bit.

money talks b.s. walks.

ya i know larry was fired, but thats only because the owner
was disgusted with larry whoring himself out to the highest
bidder during the pistons playoffs run.

with that being said, can't wait till larry coaches the knicks.

This is the most exciting time for Knicks basketball in 20 years--before Isiah our team was rotten, Isiah brought in a new recipe and managed to gather some new, exciting, and interesting ingredients--well, now were going to have the best chef in world handling those ingredients--the only question is what will the final product be? I'm very curious to see how Larry puts this team together since it seems there are a number of ways he can go and many options to choose from. I can't tell you how excited I am to finally see a Knicks team play with confidence and a winning attitude and walk onto the court like winners. Pride in Knicks basketball is finally returning and I can't wait to see the first playoff series between NY and Detroit.

dude, this is not the most exciting thing that has happened in 20 years

im going into this with a wait and see approach. i actually listened to what joe dumars said and i factor in age and what are roster looks like right now. Gundy was a very good coach, good enough to win it all, it PLAYERS that excite me.

We don't have exciting players? Come on "dude"...our players are very exciting and will be fun to watch as they develop under Larry. And Gundy was a very good coach but nobody was excited when he got the job! And when Riley became coach our team wasn't in the toilet like it has been the last number of years...this is a resurrection of the Knicks.

i believe you said this was the most exciting thing in 20 years, and its not. Jeff Van Gundy is just as good of a coach as Brown and 25 years younger.

Im glad that we are hiring brown, but I see it as short term fix with the back end falling out. Do we have the personell to win in the next 2-3 years--obviously not close yet. It will be Isiah and what he can do to improve the team that is by FAR the most imprtant step. You put the right players around a first year coach and they can win big.

this is a wait and see.

sports is a short term gig. rosters are forever changing. so you take your shot when you can. lets not look a gift horse in the mouth here.

so get on board while the gettin' is good.

brown as a knicks coach is fitting. he's badass like riles. hell like gundy when you think about it (remembering the gundy/mourning thing.)

You can't tell how good the Knicks will be next year--they could be great--who would have thought that a combination of Billups, Hamilton, Prince, and Wallace could have broken out when they did? Larry knows how to maximize talent, Van Gundy doesn't--who can you say remarkably improved under Van Gundy? He's a great coach but he doesn't know how to turn mediocre players into champions.

serious RUN....ummm, don't you think that's a bit presumptous?

We're ready to be TAKEN seriously - yes.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

LB-22 seasons .571 3 finals playoff win 100 % .521

Im glad we are getting larry brown, but im not running out of my socks. if brown can do what jvg can do with the Knicks, he'll be lucky. like i said , cool we got brown, but the key is to continue to acquire young talent

I think what excites me the most is I dont have to listen to people blame Chaney, Lenny or Herb for everything thats wrong. Go ahead and knock LArry Brown's rotations as the problem with our team.

Like it or not, Briggs is 100% right that this team will live or die by how well Isiah drafts. If drafts like he did this offseason we will be in pretty good shape. If he goes back to including picks for guys like Mo Taylor than we are in bad shape. Yea, its only a 2nd rounder, until on trade day that crappy pick has a shot to get you Taft or Blatche.

Sorry but you can't use overall career records to compare coaches. JVG is a very good coach, but LB is a great coach. JVG is best at teaching defense and getting players to play hard. He sucks at offense. Remember when we got camby? He never played him at first saying "the matchups didn't work".He only played him when injuries hit and he had no choice.Great coaches recognize that talent right away. I may be wrong but did LB ever quit on his team in the middle of a season like JVG? LB was coach of the year 4 times /JVG-zero.How many championships did JVG win? Of course any team needs talent but can you tell me you won't see a difference with any team with a 1st yr coach vs if a Bill Parcells coaches that team?

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate
