I'm confused by the title of the thread. I've been away since Friday. Did the Knicks officially hire Brown or is this thread just speculation?

dumars handed larry a made team and all he had to do was to win back to back championships....so much for greatness
Not so fast, they had one of the best young coaches in B-Ball at the time and they didn't look like a shoe in for a chip when LB arrived. He made them that, although they obviously have a very good team.

when the previous coach in his first 2 full seasons take your team to 50-32 in each season the next level of performance is final appearance with championship for the taking......anything less would be sub-standard.

....................you are right about carlisle

that's why you bring a coach better than carlisle

Nothing official yet, just LOTS of optimistic speculation that it's more or less a done deal.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

"All he had to do" ???

Winning TITLES isn't EASY!
Detroit was a huge underdog the first time around, and if Sheed hadn't left Rob Horry wide open for that game clincher, the PISTONS might have won back-to-back.

You have to be crazy or sarcastic to write what you wrote. I hope you were being sarcastic.

don't get caught in the underdog hype.....detroit was a disciplined and conditioned team for 2 years. the addition of larry brown and sheed put pistons on a level of going jugular. besides, lakers was out of sync with gp and km and it showed

if brown did'nt break his silence (wanting to talk to cleveland) he could've focused on winning and pistons would've had back to back championships.

The Pistons were fortunate to get to the Finals this year. If Wade didn't get hurt the Heat would have beaten the Pistons. So they were closer to being eliminated in the Conference Finals than to winning a back to back championship in my opinion. Brown didn't do such a great job this year. And Carlisle was the one who got the Pistons rolling, they only become championship caliber when Rasheed was added thanks to dumb Danny Ainge making a team in his own conference even better.

that's right pistons were fortunate to get a break from wade being a no-show in the last 12 minutes of play......wade was hurt! and pistons moved on like the champions they were.

great coaches seize the opportunity to capitalize on mistakes and make them count...........maybe brown was counting on something else.
