Do you all remember how Avery Johnson got his job in Dallas? I am under the impression that Larry will probably do the same for the Knicks. It could be Herb or someone else, but Larry will groom a young coach to step in and replace him when he is ready to retire.

Larry Brown is one of the greatest coaches in the history of the game and still arguably the best coach in the league. You'd be hard pressed to find a guy who's done as much with as little. If he's available you get him...its a no brainer. A guy like Rick Carlisle, who IMO is a top 3 coach in the league, and is much younger, is not going to come available for a long time (although even he was turned to the side for a guy like Brown).

It's not easy to find a longterm coaching fix. Even first timers who show a ton of promise in their first seasons (guys like Porter, Rivers etc.) turned over their jobs in like 3 years.
