Marbury is in fact the 5th highest paid player in the league this year. He sure as hell isn't the 5th best player.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

No, the Knicks are not rebuilding. The Knicks are adding payroll.

They are not rebuilding, they are doing their usual in between thing. Trying to buy their way to the playoffs while trying to devlop some young talent.

Its a dangerous, and more often then not futile, balancing act.

I really don't know of any team that did things that way and ended up having great playoff success, let alone won a title.

But who knows, mabye we'll be the first team to win that way. Not like its ever gonna change unles Dolan sells the team to somebody that cares about money somewhat.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

No one other than Layden tried and you can't reach any conclusions based on Layden

Yeah, but there is prolly a reason nobody does things that way. I mean we do have the most money, but thats not alwasy a good thing. Sometimes doing things in wasy that have worked before is a good way to go. We'll see if IT can turn this thing around or are we gonan be stuck with a revolving door of midlevel talent.

The argument that he has raised the talent level is unquestionable, but the real problem is we are very short of the talent threshold that would get us over the hump to respectability, not even a title.

I'm yet to see a sign that the kind of stragetgy they are following is capable of obtaining grade A players at some point in time. And if that can't be done it doesnt matter how many Qrich and Craw type talents you bring in, you still need to have a Brand type of impact player brought on the team at some point.

Mabye they can do it, but I just dont' see how. Prove me wrong IT, but so far I have very little faith in him, with the Mo Taylor and Rose deals not helpin much.

I think the fair way to determine if a player is overpaid is what he would get on the open market right now.

The rookie contract guys dont count because their pay is structured. We arent allowed to overpay them.

Aside from them I think Marbury and Q are close to if not at market value. Crawford is close but I think he's overpaid. I say Marbury isnt overpaid because if he was on the market right now I do believe someone would offer him the max or very close to it. He's making more than the max now, but thats because he's in the middle of the contract. Your either max or not and I think Marbury would get it.

Mo T, TT, Houston, Penny, Rose, JYD, Jerome James might not get half of what they Knicks are paying them if they were FAs right now.
