The knock on Tim Thomas is that he has the talent to be a superstar and has been nothing more than an underachiever. Gives you a 30 and 11 game like 2 or 3 times a season when he could be a 19 and 10 player at the least...

He's not hungry enough.

Maybe we should send him to Somalia.

Is that still a country? And if so, Sally Struthers will have to be involved. I can see it now - TT doing pushups with SS sitting on his back eating chocolate cake...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Don't fault TT for expectations he didn't meet that YOU put on him.

I don't really worry about TT, he'll be alright this year. Steph will also. Its not like Steph hasn't been playing hard and giving what he thinks is his best, but under Brown he will learn what kind of commitment it really takes to be a winning PG. Right now like it or not he is the team leader and our only All Star, so Steph HAS to make the needed changes and be the coach on the floor or it won't work. LB needs for his PG to make sure that the team plays at the pace and with the patience that is needed to be effective. Also Steph will have to step it up on D. I think one good thing is that he can go all out now, cuz He's got plenty of coverage at the Guard spot with Nate and JC. I believe this is solid playoff team under LB's guidance.

i didn't see tim as the be all of our woes. first off the playbook sucked from day one. that kt pick and roll was endlessly run.

when tim got the ball he would get it at the top of the key most of the time. and since the first half of his game was to power in. he'd get tagged with offensive fouls comming into the paint.

later during the second half after the allstar break they started feeding tim closer to the basket. and he started displaying his finesse game.

tim is a good player. honestly last year i think our #1 problem was the playbook. to start off we over emphasized jc. then when he went down we rode that old nag kt. and that was just a disaster.

I was at a Knicks game in Milwaukee a two years ago--when the Knicks came back from like 25 points down to win the game. Everytime TT touched the ball the crowd was booing him like crazy--he turned in a huge performance, hitting clutch free throws late in the game as the crowd was booing and taunting him obnoxiously. He showed me alot about his toughness with that performance.

he's single handedly the reason we were 16-13 instead of 19-10 last year.

disagree. Marbury and Crawford 2nd half/late 4th qtr brain-farts and defensive miscues were the reason. check the numbers on opposing guatrds put up vs our guards in the 3rd and 4th qtr of games last year. Some of the worst displays of leadership and heart by a so-called star...

totally agree. That why he got a big contract and thats why people hate him. He can be so good (as he shows in some games when he plays hard) yet he doesnt cause he just doesnt want to.

I don't undersand how somebody can not hate TT. He is an embodiment of everything that was wrong with the Knicks last year.

A lazy but talented extremely soft player who is makin ALOT of moeny.

I mean cmon, the dude is 100% fugazy lol.

tim is a bum. he has talent but after you add everything together, he's a bum. unreliable and is strictly a big $$$ EXPIRING contract. he's single handedly the reason we were 16-13 instead of 19-10 last year. he should not be a knick after april. if he is, then it may be one of the worst contract extensions in this team's history.

yeah Tim should've stayed in school. He has absolutely no basketball IQ. Its not that he doesn't want to play inside, he tries to but always winds up going toward defenders instead of going around them, uses the wrong move then turns the ball over. He definitely had the tslent to be great had he stayed in school.

I remember that game very well...
An incredible amount of posters on this board led by Playa could not talk about anything else but Keith Van Horn until that game.
Van Horn completely fell apart that afternoon.
It was big time vindication for Tim.

I won't pour salt on old wounds for some around here.. but I still feel that we got the best of that trade.

problem with Tiny Tim is that all he wants to do is score. Matterfact thats the problem with almost everyone IT has acquired thru FA or trade. None of these guys seem to want to do anything else to help the TEAM win. These guys don't have the lightbulb on to understand finding a niche where you can pad your stats if thats your thing and still give 100% to the TEAM. at 6' 10 245 with the skills he possessed attacking the offensive glass alone should personally get him 6-10 more ppg and it still contributes to the team and viewing pleasure/rooting level of the fans in a major way.

I think barring injury, everyone can agree that TT will try harder than any of the previous years because he's on his last year. Such a shame when players do that...

Just human nature, if my contract was up and I was looking for a raise I would take it up a notch too! Everyone would.

TT - the worst!

Plays basketball like a loser.

i'm through with the rationalizations with him.

TT = KVH = crapola.

A smart move IMO would be to let him walk at the end of the season. Slice his lazy ass and bloated contract off our roster and payroll.

Please! Expectations that I put? Do you forget the whole "Fugazzy episode"? Ie talked a lot of trash, and backed none. And Im not talking about him on that series because he was injured, but I mean the next season. He just dissappeared again. Yeah, he had the tough family situation, I give him that, but there was a time when he said he was over that and still disappeared. I don't want him to be a great player, even if he can become one. I want him to be consistent, solid, and he hasn't been that. Some games he works hard and is effective, no matter his numbers. But most of the games, he is a nonfactor...

Ohh please! Thats hypocrisy! You don't have to work hard on your contract year if you have played hard enough throughout your career and still do that year. So its right what players like Dampier do? I rather sign a player that has worked hard for me every year but in his contract year he struggles a little than a guy that has done nothing except when he is playing for the big check. I wouldn't work hard on my contract year, I would work hard every time because thats the point of playing any sport, or even anything in life.

I loved that game, but you must remember that he also had other games before and after that one, and in most of them he dissapeared. I would love if TT stopped being an underachiever, but that has yet to happen..

a new contract normally forces everyone to do their best,,,sad to say , but it is human nature. But with Larry, anything can happen.
