This is generally the point when we question whether you paid any attention to the draft, trades and or other pick ups already made this summer.

Are you truly being objective, or just trying to stay pessimistic so you aren't disappointed yet again?

Knicks, in 7 game series, with LB as coach, take it in 5 err, I mean 6.

I thought the question was who's the better team, not who has the best individual matchups in the starting five.

you're right

Nets vs. Knicks = edge NJ

(go ahead & call me a Nets fan if you like...it would just show me you're another one of the eternal optimists here that can't deal with a little honest opinion from a realistic Knick fan)

frye and james are an improvement over Kurt and Nazr, while only slightly, they are an improvement nonetheless.

Sweets and MoT are expected to come in and contribute mightily, last year, sweets was stuck on the bench.

And if they don't contribute, the Lee monster shall.

and the nets only have 3, well, 4, but kidd is on his last knee, err, leg and marbs is ready to explode (this year, not coming off playing in the olympics, but rested and waaaay more grown up since the best PG proclamation).

This year, we're all about winning games...nothing else matters.

Playing with semantics?

Um, no, you need more than five good players to win games.

also, why do you have frye matching up with Rahim? He's better than kristic, so that's one position we win, and marbs is better than kidd.

So, that's 2 to 3 on starters, and our bench is better.

Advantage knicks.

how dare you say kidd is better than marbury.

historically, yes, currently, NO...a big phat coney island's finest NO.

The great thing is that the question will be answered next year by the end of the season.

the knicks definitely should be better than the nets down the line. frye vs. kristic, we'll see, but the only other young players they have are rj and, um, planicic? kidd, carter, and abdur rahim are not getting any better. meanwhile our team is all about upside. we just got an infusion of young talent, and we have the veterans to steal games off any good team until it all comes together.

i'm a little worried that this optimism will translate into short patience. frye will in the end be better than KT has been, but not this season, for example. i don't have any problem with hoping for the best, but if we don't go far this season i personally wouldn't be worried about anything except losing patience in our young guys and moving them for antoine walker or something.

you hear that everyone? Stephon Marbury is better than Jason Kidd...i guess that settles that.

Frye and James better than Nazr and KT?

NOt yet. Not close.

KT was the 6th best rebounder last season. Solid Offense, a solid player! Sure he was not athletic, but neither is james! He is a great first forward/Center off the bench on a very good team!

Frye is untested and no way do I optomistically think anything of him YET! I think he will be just fine, but the question is not if, but just when. Fry does not have an NBA body and his upside is limited to how large he can fill out. That picture of him dunking under Bogut shows just how filled out Bogut is in comparison!

Kristc is a very very good player, much better than james, certainly betternow than Frye, and might continue to improve and be excellent!

Collins and Uncle Cliffy are good bench players! Bigger than anyone we got!

At the same time I might offer that Bruno might be ready to give us some good minutes. isiah has carried him from INdy and see's somtihng in him. If your gonna drink the Kool aid, love Isiah, you gotta spread some to Bruno if Isiah keeps him.

Jackie Blue is no where near ready.

I have much hope for Sweets and could be our X-factor!

The athletic David Lee an Reezy is where I lay much of my hopes.

OUr backcourt is solid, but not Kidd/Carter excellent!

Jason looked real good at seaons end and I would not right him off just yet! Nate is an unproven entity. If he can get 10-12 min and be that spark plug its gonna be a lot of fun!

Bottom line is this, with Larry we will be a force in the East. Last season, all of our coaches got outdone by the opposing coaches....Don't expect any coach to out coach Larry.

^ Along with the new additions, that's good for about 10-12 more wins next season. That's a little over .500, and will get us the 7th or 8th seed in the playoffs. But is it good enough to get us over the hump and win a series -- I'd say no. The lineup as it is now still relies on Marbury to be the catalyst. Personally, I feel that even with Brown barking orders at Steph from the sideline, we'd still benefit BIG TIME from one last trade before the deadline, bringing in an impact PF.

The Jazz are similiar to us in that they have a bunch of solid players, no superstar though, and a franchise type coach. However, where we differ is that most, if not, all of Sloan's players are defensively solid, if not average or better. Most of our players are average AT BEST.

Defense wins playoff games. A coach can only do so much. The Pistons had Ben Wallace, for starters. Who do we have???
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Frye and James better than Nazr and KT?

yes and yes.

the pic of frye posterizing bogut shows just how good frye will be in the nba. thats the real deal right there. as for jj he's a better fit then kt on the knicks. don't care what the stats say. i saw the games.

kt's game was ineffective at contributing to a team win. we needed kt to take it to the hole on o. oh yes he tried, but it was hella awkward.

LB will find a player from our current roster to anchor our defense....I am thinking JYD or Rose. Don't be surprised if one of those two is in the starting lineup as our SF

That won't get us past the 1st or 2nd seed in the playoffs.

That's just a poor substitue for the real thing...
